I saw Susan Buckner the night she competed as Miss Washington in the 1972 Miss America pageant. She was in the top 10. I remember being impressed with her dancing because it was one of the few times I actually watched a talent act from beginning to end. She was so good and Miss America usually has pitiful talent. She was also very beautiful and I saw her in a TV horror movie once.

6 Months ago she came to my Instagram page and gave me a cumpliment for a song I wrote about an old emperor ob Brazil who grew up in Petropolis, a city she had visited and loved. That was very sweet of her. I only realized who she was later. May she rest in peace. A very nice lady she was.
