As a G8 GT owner, I am never tired of hearing the story of Pontiac, even though my car is actually a rebadged bogan rocket made by Holden. I will never take the Pontiac badge off the steering wheel because seeing it everyday reminds me of the fact that I'm driving a car of a brand that is long gone.
Thank you Roman for sharing the story to a broader audience.

My dad had a Trans Am my whole childhood and my first car was a Bonneville. Pontiac will always be in my blood. R.I.P.

Holy crap.. How did I not know that GM had war factories on both sides of WWII? I am a car nerd who's worked in the industry for years and a history nerd who especially loves learning about WWII. Thank you RCR. I now have something new to research!

Real talk. My grandmother has a 1978 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am (modified not numbers matching). I am currently in the process of trying to preserve the car through regular maintenance, and replacing parts that need replacing (replacing the stock carb with a Edelbrock 600 4-barrel) It's going to be a long process, but I am determined to do right by the old bird.

I said it before and I'll say it again. GM should've axed Buick or GMC instead of Saturn or Pontiac. I feel that towards the end they were innovating while GMC's and Buick just make rebadged Chevy's to this day.

Excellent film. My first car (when I was 19) was a 1965 Grand Prix, bought from the adult children of its recently-deceased original owner for $2200. What a fine car: comfortable, reliable, and with presence for days.

As a native of Flint, Michigan, it's good to see that we're written into the annals of history beyond the water crisis and "most dangerous city" in the U.S..


Alfred P. Sloan as well as the other captains of General Motors have their fingerprints all over Flint. We have a museum named after Sloan, as well as the Buick Gallery and Research Center, a building named after Durant, and statues of William Durant, Louis Chevrolet, Alfred P. Sloan, Albert Champion, and J. Dallas Dort in and around the downtown area. Hell, the sit-downers strike and the founding of the UAW could be an RCR story on its own.
