Welcome to another edition of StreakwaveTV Learning Center. This video will focus on Power over Ethernet (PoE), which allows the integration and delivery of both power and data over the same cable. Also explained 802.3af vs 802.3at and Active vs Passive PoE.

This overview of PoE will help you understand the equipment you need to use PoE correctly with your device. Learn about Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE) such as PoE injectors, PoE Midspans, and PoE Switches.

Learn and understand about the different standards (802.3af and 802.3at), Active vs. Passive, and voltages. This is a practical look at deploying PoE in your network. See a real-world deployment on a fully operational live network.

Josh Kwok, CTO of Streakwave Wireless talks about different PoE applications, demonstrates different approaches to using PoE.

Great video but I have one question. Why did you connect a cable to the patch panel? Should cameras be connected directly to the midspan?

I am building a house and ran all of my CAT6 cables to a central location in my basement. I ran it to all of my rooms and multiple runs to certain tv areas and to the exterior of the house for security cameras. What device do i need to hook it up at the central location in my basement? Thx

I have a Cisco 3750 48 PS-S POE. I also have a Foscam POE camera, well the Camera comes with POE Splitter. The voltage ranges are selectable on the splitter. 5, 9 or 12. Im thinking I just wasted my money on ebay with buying the 3750 for POE any thoughts?

hi all I have a question. does the device you're trying to use with PoE, have to be compatible with PoE. or are you able to power any device over PoE. for example I have an IP camera and it has a port for the 12 volt DC power as well as the ethernet cable. will I be able to power this via PoE.
