Can't tell you how much it's appreciated that you cover what WAY too many healthcare providers neglect. It's like the purpose of Medicine is only to keep people alive rather than prevent or help us increase our quality of life. So as an ultra distance runner and weight trainer, THANK

What you want to avoid at all costs is a long protracted illness through to death. Stay active mentally, socially, physically and don’t let grumpy people into your life - including yourself

There are basically two main things to look for in fitness for health and longevity. one being the health of lungs and heart, which is done mainly with vo2 max, the other is to prevent injury, which consists of strength, mobility flexibility and all the rest which mainly functions to ensure that you don’t loose the ability to maintain your vo2 max. for example train your legs and balance so to avoid some knee or ankle injury, which in turn would make it difficult to run/cycle, swim or whatever else you use to keep vo2 max as high as possible. it is this thinking principle that should be understood to be the foundation of a workout selection. so avoid exercises that carry any high risk of even small injuries, not worth it and loads of alternatives to those muscle groups exist without the high risk of injury.

Yes it’s interesting, last year I followed this aerobic and weight training regime with very similar levels. So I started running again recently. Despite the challenges of managing my type 1 diabetes on and insulin pump and my epilepsy I was able to move forward stoically and I can report I’m now ranked 6th for my group in the 5km Parkrun events on Saturday mornings only running twice a week in prep. Wishing everyone great success on their own journey into better health and a happier life.

I appreciate your channel as many of your videos are appropriate and simple to understand so that my young sister is using a part of her homeschool education as a resource. I often learn a new thing or two.

Great video James. I just started doing 30 minutes of compound exercise every day in combination with 30 minutes of walking and intermittent fasting. lost 10 lbs in a week; mostly water of course. I'm also carnivore about 90% of the time so eating my food in the right order is pretty easy. Humans aren't designed to eat plants; just saying.

James, I love your channel. Thank you so much for making these videos. I'm trying to rehab my messed up body back to shape and your videos are so helpful. Anything on feet and lower leg strengthening and twisted pelvis or anterior pelvic tilt would be helpful to see. And any videos on what exercises could help open the body back up from years of sitting and not being active, posterior chain re alignment and strengthening.

Thank you so much for the video Dr. James. I think we should all be nicer to each other and stop taking our anger and frustration out on others and practice gratitude. This is really the key to living a long and happy life.

So none of this applies to zero-carb dieters. We don't have excess glucose to get rid of into muscles. We don't need to eat food in any particular order to reduce glucose spikes because we don't get any. Does that mean we don't need to exercise?

James, thanks for your insightful videos. When you list "stretching", is that synonymous with isometric exercises? I've seen it maintained that with isometric training, we can achieve the same goals using body weight without resorting to any equipment.
