HOW TO Program Car Garage Door Opener | ALL MODELS

Program your car garage door for all models. Works on Subaru, Ford, Toyota Lexus, GM, Jeep, Chevrolet, Mercedes Benz, BMW, Nissan, Kia, Cadillac and Honda, Chrysler and Doge Ram.

STEP 1:
You will reset your Homelink unit buttons by holding down the first and third buttons for 20 seconds for units with green lights and 10 seconds for units with the Homelink LED light. You will know the unit has cleared all the codes when the light flashes rapidly.

STEP 2:
Push and hold the Homelink button you would like to program while pushing your garage door opener at the same time.
(Homelink LED lights in Mirror - If you have a home link LED house in your mirror, you only need to push it once. If the light or dot does not stay on, you will have to hold it down at the same time as well)
This will take five seconds with most remotes. If you have a newer LED, it might take 20 seconds.

If your garage door does not open, pair the unit to the garage by pushing the learn button in the garage door motor. You will have 30 seconds to return to your care to push the button. Hold your cars Homelink button for about two seconds. The garage door light will flicker. Push your button a second time and this will activate your door.
Some garage door openers require three pushes of your button. If you you push your button and see two triangles flash rapidly, push your button for 2 seconds and it should open.

This didn't work directly until I ran into the below comment on another forum. Hoping this might help someone as well.


'You took the door opener remote to the car and had the car learn from the remote and then you pushed the yellow learn button on the opener and within 30 seconds you pushed the HomeLink button in the car three times getting the correct number of blinks of the LED in the car so the opener could learn the codes from the car'

After pairing with the door opener remote, you need to pair with the learn button.

I tried both ways with my new 2024 RAV4, Finally went to Genie Support, Model 1055TKV. 1. Clear HomeLink (HL) codes. 2. Press remote for 10 seconds (do not release) 3. Press HL button until light flashes, release both buttons. 4. Press Genie Program button on opener (Blue light flashes) 5. Press HL button for 1 second release, repeat 2 more times. My door opened on 3rd push.

We moved to a new house (new garage door opener), I’ve tried to sync our Highlander to the door opener no luck, I just gave up and used the remote 😩. We just bought a new Subaru, tried multiple times to program it to homelink ( even called garage door company), watched 3 YouTube videos, still no luck ☹️. Finally I watched this video, you are the ONLY person who said the car had to be facing the garage 😳 ( didn’t have issue with only house garage was big, this house we have to back one car in and the other front in)….SOOO, it worked. Thank you, both cars are now programmed. By everyone assuming the cars were forward facing, screwed me up. Thank you.

THANK YOU! This was the only video that mentioned the 2 step process for rotating code - pair through the remote controller first AND THEN do the 'Learn' pairing with the garage opener. Other videos I watched had one or the other only. Thanks again!
