Youtube does not allow reused content to be monetized. This means you have to make it unique or transformative. If you have movie trailers, tv episodes or other peoples content you need to make an effort to make YOUR OWN content if you want to be accepted into the YPP.

Hi Alan, It is beyond belief how YouTube can just demonetised channels like Steve’s with little to no warning at all other than a very vague email accusing him of fact less claims. I know Steve personally, and I know he puts his whole heart and sole into making every video. This ordeal had caused him a large amount of stress. Thank you for helping Steve, by providing sound advice which certainly played a big part in getting his channel remonetized. 😊👍

I was monetised by Youtube for over a year, uploaded videos, always got the green tick, no issues. Yesterday I get a notification that I had been demonitised and that a "significant portion" of my channel was using someone else's work and it weren't my videos. I did the video appeal, they came back and said "We can't determine if you are using your own content or someone else's, you can re-apply for monetisation in three months". I'm absolutely fuming.

If i delete the videos that have earned me said public watch hours, to be able to apply, will I lose those watch hours from deleting them? At this point I'm essentially having to delete my videos which have copyright claims.

Hey! Same happened to me. Do you know if channels have to take down the videos they got demonitized for before re applying or is it okay to leave them (because they have big views) when the last 30 days of videos have been fine with the guidelines?

Hello Alan I took your advice and have been creating original content for the last couple months. Could you take a quick look and see if I'd be safe to reapply? I believe my reaction videos are apart of the problem, but I wouldn't have enough watch hours otherwise. So would I be able to private them after youtube updates my watch hours and then still have a chance to be monetized?

I was monetized barely for a week until I got demonetized for “reused content”. I’m a 3d animation channel and this field requires a lot of time and work so it’s really frustrating for this to happen. If you look at my community posts it’s such bs that YouTube can do this without actually giving reasons why they did it.

Why does it have to be "clearly" my own content? I thought to be fair it should just be my own content, as it is by the matter of fact. But you're telling me i'm supposed to make sure that it is "clear" for those who are checking it. Which again makes me not understand where the problem is. hey! i got demonitized last sept 5, and finally able to reapply last dec 4. i literally worked hard during the month of august for nothing… from the past 3 months i decided to freshen up my content, i did delete some vids. but some of my viewers love rewatching my content so i didn’t delete some of it. and i got rejected once again. 5 months of hardwork for nothing. now im thinking of appealing reasoning that ive changed my content! will that work?
