Love the advice. I actually bought a single place setting of china on ebay (it wasn't that expensive and has platinum edging!). I use that at lunch at my desk since we don't have a cafeteria (we are in a temporary complex while we build our new corporate building). I also bought a nice glass crystal cut water glass. Some of my coworkers have made fun of me for it, but I pay them no mind. When I have lunch, I sit and enjoy it. It's the little touches that make us feel good!

A great reminder Jennifer, and I've made it even easier at my house. Our table had become such a dumping ground, that I made a beautiful centerpiece, and set it with placemats and napkins that stay all the time. No one dumps anything there anymore, and the table is always ready, so we tend to sit down more to eat. Loved this video :)

I've been doing this for a couple of weeks since I read your first book. (I still need to read the second) At first is was awkward, but now it's a nice pause in my day. It gives me time to slow down, regroup, enjoy my food, and mentally plan out the rest of my day. Thank you!

Thanks Jennifer! And congratulations again on the NYTimes Best Seller list! I really enjoyed this video (love Gatsby in the background). I do pretty well with lunch and have started to incorporate this practice during breakfast. I'm alone for breakfast so all I need to do is create the ritual. Focusing and centering myself in the morning creates a positive and purposeful mood for the day. I pour water from a beautiful pitcher into an elegant glass, light a candle (with the fall and winter season upon us), prepare a healthy breakfast, think positive thoughts, then review my calendar for the day. I leave the table feeling calm and prepared for the day ahead. Thanks again! - Debbie

I just started reading your book and it's great! I'm a stay at home mom and it's so easy to just let the day go by without really enjoying any of it. I'm going to incorporate your techniques! Thank you!!!

Hi Jennifer, I noticed you have a very good posture. Please share, how did you achieve and maintain that? Are you doing any exercise?

I know this was filmed four years ago, but to me this advice is really good advice to prevent over eating. If you are focused on your lunch, you will be mindfully aware when you are full to stop eating.

I love this!! I am challenging myself to do it everyday. Love incorporating classical music, I usually listen to worship music. But I also love classical, opera, and the like. Thanks for this challenge. ❤️

I think this is so important. Its important to appreciate your food. I've tried to instill this on my children too.
I went in retreat, a silent retreat, we ate without talking to each other. A bit difficult at first but you get use to it and it's so pleasurable and freeing actually.

This is such a great video. I have no problem eating alone and mindfully when I am at home, or even at work. However, on the rare occasion that I am at a restaurant or cafe, I struggle with it...i feel the need to be doing something, whether it's checking my phone or reading a book... I will try to just focus on being and eating next time i am out..i now consider it a personal challenge :)

Ahhh this was just what I needed to wake up to! I worked the (extra long) nightshift last night and have another one tonight... This area of eating is definitely a struggle for me at work, but you're definitely right! My 30 minute break is sacred time in the midst of a chaotic unit, I'm lucky if I get a break - and so I should be cherishing that eating time and resting, enjoying it instead of scarfing down whatever I can in super rushed fashion! Thanks Jennifer for reminding me to take good care of myself! 😃

Hi Jennifer! Loved the video like usual:) I was wondering how to go about recharging at lunch when my toddler son is eating at the table too. i find myself so busy talking with him/ trying to get him to eat etc... It is almost a relief when lunch is over...just one more thing to check off my list. Would love your advice on how to eat mindfully and recharge because it sounds like a great idea that I really want to try. Thanks!

Jennifer, you are so insightful, wise and wonderful and I love your weekly tips for a well-lived life.  Merci!  I really liked your suggestion to simply turn the mobile phone over as a way to honor and savor your lunch time and I have been doing this along with listening to classical music.  I make a point of changing the channel from news when I'm home by myself.  Thanks for another great video.  Bon appetit!

I caught myself scrolling through emails today as I was eating and I immediately stopped once my phone rang realizing I'm not taking time out to even eat. Watched this after I ate as a reminder to myself I owe it to myself everyday to be simple at lunch and enjoy the moment.

It is funny that it is the other way round for me. I eat more mindfully and chew very well when I am watching videos like yours.

I have to confess I just watched this video while finishing my lunch! In my defense, my husband comes home for lunch every day (and lunch is our main meal). The days I eat lunch by myself are rare, and the silence feels awkward, so I prefer to have a youtuber talking to me while I eat ;)
