Detoured from trying to get the smithing stones to spending about 5 hours doing Ranni’s questline last night, this game is crazy.

For anyone struggling on whether or not to go through the ruins to get to Atlus Plateau, it’s probably one of the most interesting areas in the game solely because of how inconspicuous it looks at first, and then you suddenly just come out upon these sprawling ruins built into the cliff side and under the waterfall. It’s a really awesome place.

You can also reach the plateau by getting killed by the iron maiden at the bottom of lucaria academy. Teleports you to Volcano Manor. Does involve some rough moments with high level mobs, though.

I made the mistake of heading south east before going up here and couldn’t figure out what I was missing for upgrades. I’ve found Smithing Stone 7, 8, 9, etc. but couldn’t find much. 4-6. Thank you.

The sealed tunnel where the bearing 2 is. Those mining enemies have a chance to drop smithing stone 5's as well, And only smithing stone 5 Also they are weak to strike damage so being able to one shot them will be a lot quicker to farm early game :)

I found 0 smithing stone 5s in Gael tunnel, but I defeated the magma wyrm though

Mt Gelmire campsite farm for Stones(5) - Farming it gave me flashbacks to HOURS spent farming titanite chunks from the Darkwraiths in New Londo Ruins. At least in this place, the only enemy that aggros is the one you're trying to kill unless you get careless.

FYI since the video does not really make it clear- +15 is only just above the halfway point for upgrading weapons. most weapons can be upgraded to +25 now, whereas the special weapons that take somber stones go up to only +10 (tho their dmg increase per upgrade is more than normal weapons.). i tried to post a link to the wiki, but youtube auto deleted the comment. 🤨😕

to the pvpers and co-opers out there- do not worry about weapon level. if it’s still a factor in invading and co-op, it’s not a big one. all yesterday i was able to invade in limgrave with a +13 flail at lvl 53. i was helping with godrick previously from 41 to 47 with a +8 and no issues either. while the old framework for leveling and upgrading is still there, it seems to be tuned with the expectations that end game levels will be much higher. probably why you can upgrade so much- if it stopped at 10 or 15, people would not get the sense that their character was not improving for large portions of the game. so just level up and upgrade when you can. don’t artificially stop yourself because you’re worried about being too high a level for multiplayer- i’ve seen people say they’re ending the game at super high levels, like 130 - 160, which makes sense since this game is bigger than an dark souls game. and yes, stat soft caps are higher now too. around 50 for most stats, but the results from testers are all over the place right now for spells and specific stats and this comment is already too long. spells seem to scale higher at least. this is all new info, so i’d say just play the game like we know nothing about From’s past or the player “metas”

all in all, it’s still a useful guide, but i just want to clear up some stuff about upgrading and provide some info on stuff related to it.

Fun rune farming location you could test out weapons but I've been killing them (including the pumpkin head) for an hour and I only got one level 5 stone . Update I did get 4 or 5 stones after about 2 hours and I gained 3 levels at roughly 50, 000 runes a stat point with almost enough runes leftover to buy another. It takes me roughly 2.5 mins to clear the area only leaving two light armoured warriors alive the one in the tower and behind.

Btw there is a cliffside path that you can take to get to the Liurnia region by going to the end of the broken bridge where there's the finger maiden telling you to go through the castle, you can get literally anywhere on the map without ever having to fight a boss if you can find the right path

In front of the chest where you get the miner bell bearing there is an invisible wall to continue the mine that leads you to a body that has a rune and in front of that body there is another invisible wall

I must be missing something. in the Ravine-Veiled village mine, I get no 5's only 4's after 3 runs through. Also, how do you "Farm" these locations? once I clear out a mine of stones, it never respawns.
