In this video, we're going to talk about fruit and weight loss. Can you eat fruit after you lose weight on keto?

Yes, you can eat fruit after losing weight on keto. But, it comes with a package.

• Fruits have been grown to be sweeter and higher in sugar.
• Fruits are seasonal, but you can buy them all year-round. If you eat a lot of fruit, you're getting a lot of fructose.
• Fruit, in general, is not keto-friendly.
• If you want to start adding back in fruit, what is your history of abusing sugar? If you don't have a history of abusing sugar, you don't have insulin resistance, you have a fast metabolism, you don't have a weight problem, and you don't have a health problem—you could probably get away with adding in some fruit.
• Take a look at all the data and make a judgment call.

Fruits that are lower in sugar:

• Avocados
• Lemons/Limes
• Coconuts
• Tomatoes
• Pomegranate seeds
• Starfruit
• Berries (raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, blueberries)

Some times I feel that my grandfather is laughing at me at trying to be healthy, meanwhile he lived 105 years, smoking, drinking, eating junk and his favorite, chocolate, and he even wasn't fat, and for him the healthy foods were fruits.

I eat tons of fruits all my life, mangos, oranges, pineapple, apples, plums, berries, watermelon, papaya, persimmons ...sometimes up to 5 lbs a day in the summer, I have never been overweight, nor do I have any other problems all the low carb people been harping about all day. I do exercise a ton and avoid processed foods, only eat whole food, but never had any problems so far with any whole food carbs.

My thoughts: if I feel the need to cheat, I’d rather cheat with a piece of fruit (like a few grapes or a half banana) than with straight up junk food (candy, chips, etc...). Better to quash the craving with the better of two evils🤷🏻‍♀️

Dr Berg should have his own standup comedy show

My history was the same as you Dr. Berg! Nice to hear this from someone who has been down this road too and so many out there who are still sugar/carb addicts. I fell off the bandwagon before, but I can't do that again. I tell people all the time that I'm a recovering carb and sugar addict. I've been clean since July 2019. I have to get that serious about it because I only have one body and one life. I've just turned 50 on Jan. 1st 2020, and I want to make it another 50yrs.

People that become insulin resistant are not fruit eaters .... I mean come on ! They eat syrup, juice, coke, dessert, alcool, mcDonalds, etc, etc....nobody become insulin resistant or diabetic because of fruits.

I ate a cup of watermelon today and I don't feel guilty in the least. I was due for a break and will be back on the program tomorrow.

Good news! I love fruit and grew up on fruits, especially oranges and apples. I’ll look for organic fruits and incorporate a few once in a while. They are what I miss the most! I don’t need cake and cookies, but a good banana or some berries and cream! 😋

This reminds me of Grandpa Simpson story about the planting of the great Springfield lemon tree, lemons being the sweetest available fruit at the time

My main cheat is every time I cut up an apple for my son, I take a wedge and cover it in peanut butter. such an amazing flavor. I cant eat ANY bread, pasta rice. I have ZERO control. Lost 68lbs last year on keto. Want to do 15 more and then at my high school weight at 44years old!!

Excluding people with specific conditions, no one should avoid fruit. The benefits hugely outweigh potential negatives and its definitely not fruit that has made people fat.
Obviously you can't eat fruit and maintain ketosis but most people shouldn't have to be on a keto diet forever anyway.

Dr Berg, I want to thank you so much for your videos. I started at 206 at 6' tall. I hit my target today of 175 and feel great. Now it's time to hit the high intensity more with good exercise. I can't thank you enough, I tell all my friends about you and your vidoes.

I said to myself: "If you're serious about weight loss, give up the things that will hinder your progress." It's all the motivation I needed and even when I think of giving up I say it to myself again. I've lost about 7 kilograms in a month just by sticking to doc's advice.

"My system is very sensitive to CARBS and I generally do well on a ketogenic diet"
Golden words. Great reminder.

With all the respect for your opinion I believe that everybody's body is different depending on how they eat and move or use their body.
I eat everything in moderation,
I eat when I'm hungry, I don't snack .
If you know your body well you know when you gain weight what you've been eating, what got you to that stage . So you need to pay attention to what you're putting in your body .Dr berg said when you eat less you have more concentration I definitely agree because when I fast I'm alert and I'm paying close attention to the signals of my body .
the amount and kind of food and the frequency of it and the sedentary lifestyle is what make the person gain weight or lose it .

And to think that my grandad used to make me sugar butties - that's a thick slice of crusty bread, smeared with a half inch of butter and a ton of sugar sprinkled on top.
