Remember kids, stay in school. Unless this lady teaches there, then I totally understand.

I never get tired of Jenny *using the Bible* to *prove the Bible correct !*
It's jingle time.

"How do we know the bible is trustworthy? Because we know Jesus is the one true authority. How do we know that? Because the Bible says so! But how do we know the Bible is trustworthy? Because we know..."

About two weeks ago I was invited to a local Christian school to speak to a Grade 9 Bible class about the Dead Sea Scrolls. Questions were generally restricted to particulars of the scrolls themselves, but I hung around for a while afterwards and chatted with the two Bible teachers about how they teach their classes. I was both impressed and encouraged by how eager both of these guys were to learn more about critical theories of the history, formation and transmission of the biblical texts, and they were not interested in just parroting bad apologetics for their students. Thank god, not everyone is indoctrinating impressionable Christian kids like Jenny Lehmann seems determined to do.

How these "killer arguments" would not seem ridiculous on anybody who is not already convinced of the bible's veracity is beyond me.

"How do I know that the bible is true? It says so in the bible!" ...and she is a _high school teacher._ 😐

"Trust the Bible because the Bible says to trust it"
Incredible

Jenni is the wife of a pastor who runs a KJV-only church in O'Fallon, Missouri. Even for fundamentalists, that's verging on the crazier side of things.

This isn't your average everyday circular argument. These are... ADVANCED circular arguments.

Tell me you appeal to authority without telling me you appeal to authority.

I just look in her eyes and think to myself: "It's always the eyes with these people."

“The Bible is true because the Bible says the Bible is true.”

“Jesus was divine because Jesus said Jesus was divine.”

…and…

“Dracula was a vampire because Dracula said Dracula was a vampire.”

It’s strange how most apologists would, likely, acknowledge the *glaring* flaws in an argument if their own arguments were presented *back* to them with only the nouns changed.

Fair that she agrees that Hinduism is true because Krishna said that the Bhagavad Gita was the word of God.

Yes, I am more and more convinced by the day that religion is a major cause of stupidity. Always a pleasure to listen to your calm, polite, and intelligent reactions to nonsense.

Jenni's logic and reasoning reminds me of the lyrics:
"Round like a circle in a spiral, like a wheel within a wheel, never ending or beginning on an ever spinning reel"

Next Jenni should do books about reasons you can trust the Quran. Then, reasons you can trust the Vedas and for fun throw in Mahabharata and Ramayana. Then, Buddhism. Hey, Jenni, are you getting it? Are you seeing the point?

I treat the _truth_ of bible with the same "respect" as I treat the _truth_ of the Epic of Gilgamesh.

A person in a book told me that the book was true and that we're all on a flat world on a turtle's back. The book told me that guy is trustworthy so we're all on a giant turtle's back.
