Outside of the main cast, can we also acknowledge the character of Laurie for a moment? That woman is somehow comforting but absolutely terrifying at the same time. Her monotone expression and tone feel like a thin veil over something far more evil. When Rue realized she was locked in her house and tried to get out, I was sick with anxiety about Laurie thwarting her.

It’s brilliant how the deeper in her addiction she becomes, the less Rue cares to narrate. Like as she’s abandoning and burning all of her personal relationships due to her disease, she’s doing the same to her relationship with us, the viewer, and it is GENIUS story telling
