I retired at 54 years old (4 years ago). I have a mechanical engineering degree which led to a 32 year career in manufacturing. Most of my career I was in leadership positions including three roles as a plant manager. I distinguished myself as a culture change expert in asset reliability and maintenance. I retired to coach, mentor and consult very part time as I enjoy life.

When I was 54, I wanted to retire. My wife in good health wanted me to wait one more year. I insisted, and we got to spend a year traveling. She passed away 13 months after I retired. Life is not predictable, and I am extremely grateful that I got to spend that year with her full time.

Had a friend pass away unexpectedly last month at 55. Had no previous health issues. He had two pensions (military and fire department) plus savings. He had a lot of plans for when he retired at 62, that now he will never see. Enjoy your life now.

Three hours later and I am still thinking about what you said about you won't have good health at age 80. I am 62 and spent most of the day helping out my 85 year old mother who feels terrible most days. All her friends her age are either dead or are in a nursing home not knowing what their names are. Her neighbors have got all kinds of health problems. One of her neighbors a 75 year old retired NASA engineer went and got his mail today and then went back two more times because he didn't remember he went the first time. He found out this year he has got alzheimers. I could give you a lot more examples but the point is you are right retire now and enjoy life before your body falls apart. Why waste another year at work.

Retirement is wonderful if you have two essentials — much to live on and much to live for. Invest wisely and get good returns.

The first year of my career, a woman had a retirement desk/celebration in the office. She had a heart attack at the celebration and passed. Has stuck with me for almost 40 years… it’s time

I'm 20 workdays away from retiring. A little nervous, but excited, about entering this new chapter. I'm 63 and looking forward to more time for me, traveling, exploring, and in general enjoying life. The last 25 years seem to have flown by... I hope that the next 25 years go a little slower. It's time!!

I retired at 57 from the military. I can’t count the number of times I’ve been asked about my next career. When I tell them I don’t plan to begin a second career, you’d think I’d insulted them by their response. Some of them even seem to be angry. To your point in this video, my day is full. I read, journal, exercise, do projects around the home, hike, ride my Harley, and watch Gunsmoke. One key for me to living happy in retirement was hiring a financial advisor. Great segment!

Retired 18 months ago at age 59 1/2 in Arizona. It was a dream job (36 years), but it did negatively affect my health. My doctor has reduced my blood pressure medicine twice since I retired. I took about a year doing nothing to recharge but since started engaging more in my community. I sing in a community chorus and serve as a volunteer a couple days a week at the local non-profit hospital. I travel several times a year with friends. I ran my numbers as found out I could. I choose the this I am frugal with (housing) and those I am not (travel). One of the best decisions I ever made.

Hi Joe. I listened and noted down all five points. All good stuff, mate. I'm from Sydney, Australia. Took voluntary retirement at 59. I turn 87 on 18th this months. Yep! I'm still going strong. Yep, my 'retirement' years have been the most productive and enjoyable of my whole life. Keep up the good tips. There are countless thousand who sit on the fence too long to really have a long and happy retirement.

I wasn't financial free until my 40's and I'm still in my 40's, bought my third house already, earn on a monthly through passive income, and got 4 out of 5 goals, just hope it encourages someone that it doesn't matter if you don't have any of them right now, you can start TODAY regardless your age INVEST and change your future! Investing in the financial market is a grand choice I made.

I retired a year ago at 56...I am astounded at the number of people who have either never planned for retirement or are simply to afraid to retire. Don't you know the true value of your life? It is not slaving away somewhere being productive. This American busy disease and getting our identity through work takes a terrible toll. Time is more valuable than money when you are older.

I’m 57 and told my firm that I was retiring in January. Working out my 90 days notice at the moment and just finished the hand-over to my successor last week. I had no fear of doing this as I had been planning this for the last six years. Being out from under the pressure of the large corporate has put a new spring in my step. My two tips - 1. Plan well in advance and 2. You don’t need as much as you think (you don’t need “one more year”)

I have no regrets about retiring early.

I had a few family members "predict" that I would be poor, but I'm not at all poor.

I also had a few people hint that you supposedly had to be rich to retire well.

I'm not rich and never was, but I have enough to meet all my expenses and have a couple of hundred dollars left over at the end of the month for an occasional treat and to put into several savings accounts.

I am now having a wonderful retirement.

No work pressures, no workplace politics, no more commuting and now I can select the people I want in my life.

Another great video - “only boring people find retirement boring”, loved that.

I’ve been watching your videos for over a year in my lead up to retirement in early 2022 when I reached 60. I could have carried on working, in a stressful job (was a solicitor), but the fewer “go go years” led me to resist the “one more year” syndrome”. Loving my new stress free life!

I’m 59, what keeps me from retiring is the thought of private health care, and the cost associated with that.

I met my birth father a couple of years ago, his advice... retire as soon as you can! He was a union member truck driver. He worked for 25 years and retired at 55. He had a 23 year retirement before he passed away. That's awesome! I will be 62 when I retire, I am super excited to start the next journey! Love your videos, I'm from California.

One of the most significant fears that delay retirement is the worry about financial stability. It is crucial to assess your financial situation realistically and plan accordingly. Consider meeting with a financial advisor like Mr Jeffrey Alby Holmes to develop a comprehensive retirement plan, including budgeting, investment strategies, and an estimation of your retirement income.

Just retired 3 weeks ago at 63 1/2 yrs old. I am from Spring Hill, Tn. Appreciate your guidance and perspective regarding this new journey in peoples lives. I planned for this moment 40 yrs ago. I celebrate my freedom to choose what " I " want to do everyday!! Time is so priceless and no one will never again controll how I spend it...but me.

I’m 57 1/2, just retired, bit nervous but moving forward, went through your list of 7, agreed with all of them, but retired anyway, wife and I in good health now, she’s 10 years older, only the Lord knows how much time we have. Enjoyed your video, encouraged me that I made the correct decision.
