Actually check tires a few hours after driving and at night if car is outside of the garage. Tires could heat up from sun load. If in a garage, just give it 3 to 4 hours for engine, exhaust, and tires to cool down.

I've lost a few tires over the years due to low pressure. Felt something off, but tire was shredded by the time I pulled over. Haven't had an issue with newer cars, in fact TMPS (while not perfect) has saved at least a couple of tires on my vehicles. A patch is waaay cheaper than a good quality tire.

I rotate my tires every oil change and check the pressures. Check them more often during seasonal changes. I use a calibrated gauge I used to use on my race car’s tires.

Back in the days of full service gas stations, I was traveling cross country, and stopped for gas. The attendant checked the tire pressure and was concerned it was 50 PSI. I just looked at him and said that is about right. My van had D load range tires with max pressure of 60 PSI. Recommended tire pressure was 45.

Definitely check cold in the morning or night.
On a hot summer, I checked and topped off the tires about 12pm before a road trip. About 30 miles into the trip, I blew a tire because I didn’t compensate for the “hotter rolling air pressure” in the tire.
So much for, “the man of the trip” to check everything!😅

Wholeheartedly agree.

Check them cold, and ensure they aren't below the minimum.

I personally also check them hot and make sure they aren't above the max, but thats optional.
