I love my mechanic so much. He's such a trustworthy guy and he's always doing things like this for me free of charge just to be nice.

Couple of caveats to this:
1) Across the vehicle is only applicable so long as the tire treads are NOT unidirectional
2) Staggered tires cannot be rotated front to back
But most of Master Cooley's wisdom is applicable for most vehicles.

It's not so easy with directional tires since you can't just change wheels from one side to the other without taking the tires off the rims. That being said, it's good to see Brian Cooley again!

Some tires also have a rotation arrow on them so they must be rolling in the same direction after you have rotated them. Some owners manuals address that too.
