Brian Thompson, the chief executive officer of UnitedHealth Group Inc.’s insurance division, was fatally shot in New York City Wednesday morning, the New York Police Department said.
Thompson, 50, was shot in the chest outside the New York Hilton Midtown in Manhattan, where the company was hosting an investor day, according to a person familiar with the situation.
For reaction to the incident, Bloomberg's Tom Keene and Paul Sweeney speak with New York City Council Member Keith Powers, who represents the district where the shooting took place.

Out of State hospital visits are not covered by UnitedHealthcare. The ambulance wasn’t able to find an in network hospital.

No politician or government official will have the guts to say, or maybe they are so far removed from working class struggles that they dont get it, that this may be a result of someone brought to their breaking point by obscenely wealthy CEOs and shareholders profiting from their denials of healthcare services to a working person who pays ridiculously high monthly premiums...

Did they bill his widow $2, 129.57 for the ambulance ride?
After all, he was from Minnesota, so, he was "out of network"

This was a professional hit on a public figure. It has nothing to do with politics. And it wasn't random crime. Worthless reporting!

Guys in the suits don't take subways and busses in Manhattan. Absolutely ridiculous to have a fancy smanshy conference in NYC.

Take note of the volume of less than sympathetic reactions. Why do you suppose we all think this way, fellas? I'm thinking about golf, when I should be concerned for your people. Is this what you guys feel like, whenever some vital procedure or medication is denied?

Good grief, stop bringing politics into it! This was a targeted attack, nothing to do with red or blue or even city/state policies on crime, immigration, etc.
