After 2 implants, I got home & lay down for a sleep - when I woke up I must have stood up too quickly and fainted almost immediately. I came round to find I split my bottom lip and had carpet burns up the middle of my face. Thankfully the implants were unaffected but it was down to luck that I didn’t land on either one! Just a warning to be careful when moving around post surgery. I had never fainted before, so it came as a surprise to me that this could be something to watch out for.

Had my implant done on 10/10/2023, some bleeding for a few hours afterward. I had slight discomfort and an 800 MG ibuprofen took care of that. I cannot sleep flat but over all the procedure was not bad. Did not use sedation or Laughing gas

I’m 34 and I’ve only had one tooth that has caused me any problems in my life. Cracked it, got a root canal. Two years later, the crown and screw literally fell out of my face. I went to an oral surgeon and got what was left of my destroyed tooth pulled. When they pulled it, they gave me a bone graft. I’m not sure if anybody is familiar with this process, but the oral surgeon disappeared out of the room and walked back in with a hammer and about an 8” chisel and said, “Now I’m gunna need you to relax.” Luckily I was on Mars, sucking down nitrous like a fiend. But he literally gave me a good 20 hammer blows to the jawbone. Obviously I was numbed up, but the pressure was immense. Then he took this tool with a small, smooth round ball at the end and he literally used his body weight to lean the graft against my jaw. Again, I thought my jawbone was going to snap. I could feel it bending. Lol. Absolutely dreadful experience. It ended up costing thousands upon thousands of dollars, and 3 months after the end of a 2+ year process, I go for a follow up and the oral surgeon takes a CAT scan and shows me that my dentist never screwed the crown far enough into the implant. Wtf!! The dentist grinded the crown down a ways, too. I wondered because my bite had changed somewhat. So the other day I go back to the dentist and he goes, “Oh, that’s too bad. You’re gunna have to buy a new crown.” I was like, “Uhh, you mean you’re going to have to buy me a new crown? I’m almost $10, 000 deep with this ONE TOOTH!” I paid him over $2000 for the root canal and crown that failed in 2 years and I paid him well over $1500 for impressions and this implant crown that he failed to properly secure. The oral surgeon visits and procedures cost me $7000. Dentist is a real nice guy, but this entire process has been a mental and financial NIGHTMARE.

I had two sinus lifts after four really difficult extractions then 7 implants yesterday, today zero pain and almost no swelling.

Excellent advice! I got the exact same explanation from my endodontist after root resection. I followed instructions and healing was perfect.

Wish I had seen this before I ate while I was still numb. Have 2 big gashes in my cheek from chewing now. The ironic thing is that the implant doesn't hurt at all. Go figure🤷‍♂️

I really like that you follow up a few days after the surgery because you’re absolutely right I was so nervous about the surgery. I didn’t hear any of the aftercare information. They relay it to the person that was with me, but the person that was with me wasn’t with me for several days either they weren’t taking care of me, so I had no idea what was normal and what wasn’t I had a bunch of questions I read the paperwork that they gave me, but I had it at very large amount of swelling, bruising pain and I also had an allergic reaction to something and had to give myself EpiPen and nobody called me back from the emergency line. This is not your office. This is another state nothing to do with you or your practice so anybody looking to go to this doctor I’m just saying what he’s doing having people follow up a few days after the surgery is really really good and I think that would’ve been very helpful for me and reassuring to me that the amount of pain I was in was OK I am 10 days out and I do not like how the prosthesis fits or feels it’s huge and I’m not adjusting well to it, it’s a temporary but it’s four months and the way it’s driving me crazy every day with how it feels like I’m wearing ill fitting dentures on the top of my mouth and they just wanna tell me that it’s all fine but I spent $35, 000 just for the top and it doesn’t feel good at all. I thought that they would feel like my own teeth, there’s a gap between that. Every time I drink fluid goes through the whole thing Food gets up there I’m only eating liquids and it’s like larger than an inch deep covering my pallet.

I just bought a Gatorade water bottle that you squeeze water into your mouth, so I avoid drinking from a straw water bottle

I am 28 days out with having the initial post put in for an implant on #28. I was not told half of the things "not to do". After being told that the worst would be day 4 or 5 I was looking forward to some relief. It didn't happen. I am allergic to most pain meds and could only take Tylenol and Ibuprofen. I took so many that it is a wonder I haven't damaged my kidneys and liver. I haven't had anything for pain in about 5 days but an occasional Tylenol but I still have what I am now calling discomfort. Especially when I eat or drink. I am still eating on one side. The site looks like a dark red bubble where the implant was put in. Is this right?

My teeth keep breaking. I haven’t had a cavity in years, but my teeth are just breaking no matter what I do. I go for cleanings every 3 months, brush an floss twice a day, use perio trays. I’m at around 45k that I’ve spent on my teeth, 6 crowns and 2 implants. It hasn’t been a fun journey 😢

On day five after two implants put into my lower jaw. The pain is severe and excruciating and after five days of no sleep my surgeon is going to take a look at it. It might be infected. :-(
