I like Skyscanner to find the flight and then go and book directly with the airline.

Good video Les. Prices vary depending on which day you depart and return flexible travel days can save a couple of £hundred.

I use more or less exactly the same tips but here is one more tip look for deals on airport lounges at London or the stopover airports for example I fly Singapore airlines to Philippines I often have 5 or 6 hours in Changi Singapore and sometimes I get the lounge 4 hours for £40 eat all you like chill and get a 30 minute hot shower before your final flight!

i always booked a return flight, giving a date as far in the future as I could then changed it for a small fee when I knew I was coming back

In 1998 as a young man I was desperate to have a budget holiday to Thailand so I booked Air Uzbekestan. It took 26 hours one way. There were an 8 hours stop in Uzbekestan. There were no monitors or computers. It was reliant on hostesses waking us up in our chairs to let us know the plane was keaving. It cost 300 pounds

It's a long journey. Personally I spend a bit more nowadays to fly direct with Thai Air. It's a flavour of Thailand earlier than arriving there.

Great film Les. Skyscanner is the way to go.
I then use the filters box to weed out the airlines I don’t like, set the duration time to a more acceptable total length of travel and check the kind of aircraft I’m flying on. Example, if you’re travelling in ‘business’ you can also check if the seat plan is 1-2-1. Even on your connecting flight.
When I get to the list of cost options I always try and choose the actual airline rather than the other commercial booking companies. I then cross reference this with the actual cost on the airline website or app. I’ve found you can make changes easier to your flight booking with the airline direct. (Not that you want to be making any changes)
I once had to amend a friend’s flight details. He had booked with a third party agent. When I contacted them they said to contact the airline with their reference number. The airline direct said the contract was with the travel company and they would not change anything about the ticket. Basically said buy a new ticket or travel. Just my thoughts and what I do.
Good luck and best wishes.

Safe travels Les great video look forward to your next blog when your home, I have used them also in the past, very wise giving plenty of time to get to the airport when booking super saver flights, we all have our preferences, I like the midday flight back to Thailand so arrive early morning and I like the red eye flight to the UK (in no rush to do that again maybe never go back there) again early morning arrival.

We are looking at Vietnam or Thailand next spring & use SkyScanner, like you we prefer a stop of 2-3 hrs, Birmingham is our best option as taxi ride away, safe travels 👍

I use Skyscanner to get an idea of prices and then book direct with the airline instead of an agent Skyscanner might have as the cheapest option. It's easier to get a refund or change dates with an airline booking than using an agent.

£360 is a great value price. I recall the days when Ceefax was the best way for booking the least costly last minute flights. I'd get a direct, return flight back in 2007 for £420ish. I prefer direct flights as they get it over and done with in one hit.
