Entreé only means the main course in North America. Everywhere else in the world, it means starter, or literally "entry". I'm not sure how it ended up meaning the main deal in the Americas. It's really confusing!

Adding my voice to the concert of French approval. It doesn't happen often that the tips are legit instead of based in obsolete information or clichés. Well done.

These are good, especially 6. Galette is THE underrated regional dish waiting for foreigners to discover it

Im from Paris and i approve of this message. I wanna add one thing.
Just like the italy sandwich video, same thing when it comes to pastries.

Not saying all make great ones but we have so many tourists traps and the biggest one is Cedric Grolet.

I'm nowhere near French but I always say "Hello" or "Good day" whenever I interact with any stranger. Is that weird? 😅

Nice list. One of my favourites is going to a Michelin restaurant for lunch if you want to save a bit. Still an incredible experience, albeit not as grand as dinner, but worth it! 😊

An entree is also a starter here in Britain too.
It makes sense given it means entrance.
Only the US and English speaking Canada use it to mean a main course.

As an American, I always thought it was weird we call meals entrées because I thought those were appetizers my whole life

Went to Paris as a teenager and always tried my hardest to speak French. The locals often laughed at how bad it was but they were so nice since I tried.

Tips for paris*. Also I didn’t experience any rude french people. Everyone was super nice and understanding even though they didn’t speak English and I didn’t speak french. They happily gesture to communicate and cheered when I spoke little french I know

Wait, this whole time I thought entree was just another word for "appetizer" 😂

From a french, these are actually good advices.

Wait what's with the last one ? "Plat" is the main course, like thats the bulk of your meal. "Entrée" could be considered an appetizer but it's mostly the same as in english. Appetizers (apéritif) are usually liquid, as in alcohol with maybe olives, peanuts or crackers before a meal, but before as in, most often, you start around 5 and get to eating a meal around 8, it's part of a social time
