Yesterday, my (and my roommates') first decks arrived. One of us already introduced us to many of the rules, and we played all day and night.
We had to google a lot of stuff, some questions being answered, some not.
This video is a great introduction to magic, its ruleset and some basic guidelines. Thank you for posting it, I will surely recommend it to anyone that wants to know more about this game.

AWESOME GUIDE!! As someone that knew absolutely nothing about Magic the Gathering and wants to get into it because of my girlfriend, this guide made me feel a lot more comfortable with the game and understanding all the rules, steps and flow of a match. Back in the old days, unspent mana would just damage you as mana burn. You had to be REALLY precise with your mana tapping if you didn't want to kill yourself by being too greedy. The technology of mana heatsinks has really come a long way!

I truly believe this is the most definitive guide to starting MTG. I've been missing pieces of information from more popular channels (I'm looking at you, Tolarian College), and even MTG Arena itself! This guide is a long one, but it's explained SO well, organised brilliantly, and walking through a game with this in the background would be a PERFECT way to start this game.
