"Starfleet can't go after him, but I can!"

"What do you need, son?"

"A Federation starship complete with a full Starfleet crew compliment."

"Er ... you gonna' be wearing uniforms during this run?"

"Yes sir!"

"So ... let me get this straight. Starfleet uniforms, personnel, starship, weapons. This is your plan to give Starfleet plausible deniability?"

"The Klingons will never expect it sir!"

"You know what you are Kirk? Do you have any idea what this plan makes you?"

"No, sir, what sir?"

"A damned genius, son! Request granted!"

I love how they gloss over the transwarp-beaming device. A piece of equipment that makes starships pretty much redundant.

Spock gave Kirk the "what's wrong with you?" Look three times is this clip.

At that moment I thought Marcus is a good guy. He is calm, cool, he gave Kirk the opportunity to spoke up at the conference, and he implied he is indeed Pike’s mentor.

Why would Marcus have a model on his desk of the top secret dreadnought that's still in development? That's got to be the most unsecure secret ship ever.

"Oh, yeah, it's a top-*secret* organization we have. It's called Section 31. They were working on a new class of torpedoes for us. Damn, I can keep a secret, can't I."
The only way his telling these two guys that would make sense would be if he planned to kill them both later. Which... hey...

I noticed the models the first time I saw the film.  They're a nice homage to the past. In order: Wright Flyer, Spirit of St. Louis, V2 Rocket, X-15, Vostok, Gemini Capsule, Space Shuttle, Ares-V Rocket, XVC-330 Ring Ship, The Phoenix, NX-Alpha, NX-01 Enterprise, USS Kelvin, USS Vengeance.

Did anyone else suspect as I do that Spock collected all or part of Pike’s Katra when he touched him when he was dying? Could this be why Spock has wisdom beyond what most young Vulcans have and feels love and loyalty for Kirk and protects him beyond even what most Humans would?

Admiral Marcus = If Robocop were a Starfleet Officer

Great subtle acting by Pine right at the beginning. He conveys the feeling of being distracted by Pike's death with just one little head movement because when Spock says "Commander" Kirk jerks his head as if he just remembered the demotion and hates being addressed by that rank instead of Captain.

Though we saw the Vengeance foreshadowed, an ordinary man who had no clue about the Vengeance would simply say, "cute toy."

As well someone with the ego like Marcus would display something like that, more as a sense of pride than anything else.

What I did like from this movie was how I thought Marvus' plan was solid and sensible
But Spock's constant concern and confusion made me remember this was all wrong
Section 31 existing alone was a red flag that Kirk didn't even second guess
Maybe for our "modern" era this seems justifiable, but it was nice to have Spock remind us that this was all wrong, that this is a clear regression for the organization representing humanity in star trek

Casting picked almost all the leads to have blue eyes.
And fuckin effects seems to be giving them all the Fremen eyes effect, like in Dune.

1:34 Vengeance foreshadowing already. I absolutely love the ship design

I about had a geekgasm right in the theater when I heard the words "Section 31." I enjoy any and all callbacks to Deep Space Nine, because it's my favorite version of Star Trek.
