I really like how you teach her how to handle her dog. I hired a dog trainer but he is the one handling mine most of the time and it's less of a teaching moment for me but for my dog.... So I became super stressed when he's not around.

"the point of an inside turn is total control" I NEEDED TO HEAR THAT. Ive never heard that point and its so so so important. Most people (myself included) avoid inside turns bc they are more complicated then the much easier outside turn. Most dog owners goal is real obedience and settle for the easier "if you can get a dog to heel outside turns, you are good to go." But Ill bet working that inside turn is where you really get over the hump between basic obedience and where most dog owners want to actually be.

So happy I found this video today! My precious service dog in training is having a difficult time with reactive behavior. He is so friendly but he can't say hi to everyone so he cries to the sky in frustration. As a handler, this video gave me the tips I need to better help him out.

The fine tuning calls you make while the owner is working her dog are so helpful! Sometimes it’s hard to exactly discern when and how to make the corrections and with the repetitions in this video it really became clearer. Thanks Tom! Great dog, owner and video. Lots of little tips today to work on in our training.

Really liked the reinforcement and consistency of the draw back and inside leg. Those two things done repeatedly created beautiful engagement which we see as the dog starts looking up to the owner for direction rather than meandering about. Well done, Tom! These videos continue to help me train my GSD rescue. NBDA member 😊

I love the new format with the captioned steps. So many Tom Davis mantras in one place. When I'm struggling with a new foster, I will rewatch this to remind myself what I am doing wrong. And I will refer adopters to do the same. Thanks!

Hi Tom, that was won of the best training sessions. The woman's technique and timing improved so much.
That was informative.

LOVE this video! Great drills and things to practice as well as showing these early progressions! Awesome tips my guy! I always like the body language explanations too like "the air licking is good"

Super helpful video and teaching! Thanks, Tom. My girl has come a long way, but the barking part, however brief, is still predictable. Reacting seems a life sentence...lol.. But getting more skills in dealing with it is so appreciated. I love my big, working line GS. she is the light of my life. Whatever I can learn to help her succeed and feel success, is my goal each day. ❤❤❤❤
You make this possible for us. 🙏🏼Thank you, sir.

Thanks for all the hard work from you and your team! Great to see how excited that woman became once she saw that she was capable of handling her dog and that he was making progress. He seems like a cool pup! Did you guys ever come up with names for those stuffed dogs?

This is awesome! I’ve got one question, how are you holding the treat to ensure the dog gets a nibble and isn’t also accidentally getting your hand? I see in the palm with the thumb over it. Also what that looks like some kind of liver treat, what kind?
