SERVE | TECHNIQUE | ALL LEVELS

Learn from Dr. Gylton Da Matta, a member of the International Volleyball Federation technical development committee. The underhand serve is a fundamental skill and type of a volleyball serve, in which the player utilizes the underhand pattern to strike the ball during the action to put the ball in play.

🏐The purpose of this skill is to have better control of the ball and strategically decide where it will land.

🔑 The key to an effective underhand serve is to have a good position and a good stance. You need to have a big extension and a big follow through using the Asian grip.

1️⃣ Check your position and stance
2️⃣ Ensure big extension and a big follow through
3️⃣ Verify a flat trajectory, close to the net

📈 Practice your underhand serve and Asian grip. Tag @SportsEdTV and show us how you train to improve this skill to be featured in our stories!

Do you realize it is illegal to hit the ball on the serve while still holding the ball. The ball is supposed to be released before being hit on service.
