I wanted the film to include the scene where Johanssen explains to her father how she would be the sole survivor if the Hermes fails to collect supplies from Earth.

I was wondering why they didn't have this scene because it was in the book. I guess they wanted to keep the subtle, surprise element of their relationship to later in the movie.

I wished there was more footage of the Hermes crew activities in the film.

This should have been kept in. There wasn't nearly enough about the Hermes crew in the movie. The movie could have easily been 3 hrs long and still fantastic.
