I thought this scene was well acted by the cast. The script isn't anything mind-boggling, but the actors' performances are what I enjoyed about this.

Twentieth Century Fox owns the copyright to this film.

One of the rare times Sean Bean does not die in a movie XD

They should have ended the film with Sean Bean jogging, reflecting and smiling about Watney's rescue, then suddenly getting hit by a car.

It's a recognizable phenomenon that once a prestige-y movie's cast reaches a certain size, Michael Pena will retroactively be added to the film.

Incredible movie. No one dies (not even Sean Bean), and there's no villain or antagonist other than Mars itself. And it has the Winter Solider, Sue Storm, Luis, Wong, Cheetah, Boromir, Childish Gambino, Grace, and Harry Dunne in it.

The thing about this scene is that no one is even the least bit happy that he's alive. What we get is the overwhelming dread that being left on Mars is worse than death.

So far the only movie I saw with so many known actors and actresses come up to one. Very spectacular

One does not simply march onto the Martian surface.

The actress playing Lewis was great with her expressions, you can see the overwhelming guilt gradually consume her.

Such a well-played, devastating and emotional scene. I really got drawn into the emotion of this scene the first time I saw the movie.
Very well done. If I were in charge and made the call like the commander did, I would feel the same and it would be a really heavy hard "cross to bear"... Great scene.

The most unrealistic thing about this movie is the HUGE empty spaces of the ship and the base on Mars.

Marvel/DC Crossover: Mephisto (Sean Bean) causes emotional suffering to the X-Men/Pheonix villain Vuk (Jessica Chastain), Winter Soldier (Sebastion Stan), Susan Storm the Invisible Woman (Kate Mara), Wonder Woman's Archnemesis Cheetah (Kristin Wiig), Dr. Strange "Frenemy" Baron Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor), Spiderman Villain The Prowler (Donald Glover), and two of Antman's Avenger sidekicks: Agent and Scott's partner in crime/best friend (Benedict Wong and Michael Pena... yes, both Avengers) showing rare sympathy for an Asguardian Loki impersonator (Matt Damon) stranded on a desert planet. Greatest Marvel/DC crossover so far!

In real life that scene would be punctuated by multiple people yelling, whispering and screaming "Oh F**k!" over and over again while they processed the whole horrible thing.

They should have had a deleted scene where Sean Bean dies

Just for kicks

In the book he gets to keep his job
