Frozen shoulder, or adhesive capsulitis, causes pain, weakness, and little to no mobility in the shoulder joint. It is a daily struggle to do simple tasks like putting on a shirt, taking a shower, washing dishes, or even getting comfortable enough to sleep at night. It can also affect your ability to work, resulting in unwanted time off.

If you have frozen shoulder, hopefully you are working with a physical therapist and a massage therapist to decrease pain, get back your range of motion, and strengthen weakened muscles. If not, ask your doctor for referrals.

Be patient with yourself. Treating frozen shoulder takes months, if not years. This self massage video is intended as an adjunct to your regular therapies. Massaging your shoulder daily can help speed up the healing process, and offer you relief. So follow along with me as we gently work towards thawing your frozen shoulder.

3:00 This is the move that worked for me, after about 3 minutes of this grab and hold I can now lift my arm overhead much more then I could before, it’s been jammed for the past 6-months, unable to move vertically above shoulder height.
I’ve had 5-sessions 1/2 hour each with a local physio in the recent past with very little improvement, but a few minutes of your massage technique has produced immediate result! Thanks for the video.

I literally cried doing this. I have severe fibromyalgia and was experiencing frozen shoulder. This is the BEST help I’ve received! I had been in pain for over a week & I have full motion range in my left shoulder now, Thank you so much Rachel! New subby !

So glad I found you, Rachel. I am in the freezing stage and this is my 2nd day with you-my pain completely abates for a while after having performed your easy-to-follow massage! The shoulders (I have it in both so I repeat your video for the opposite side) are better able to tolerate exercises after I warm this up in this way, and starting with a shower or heating pad first. Thank you!!!

Thanks a brick. That's the best video on pain relief for severe cases of frozen shoulder out there! Unlike all those video introducing impossible to perform stretches that are fine for preventing not treating severe cases. Yay!

Two days back I woke up in the morning with an extreme pain in my left shoulder and was unable to lift my hand up. I watched your video and it helped me a lot to release pain from my armpit area and the back of my shoulder. I also show this massage techniques to my mother-in-law who also had the same problem for years and surprisingly she can also can lift her hand up now. Thank you soo much ❤

Just found this! And already it seems to have relieved it a bit. I’ve been in more or less constant pain since January this year. I’ve had 3 sessions of energy healing, 2 sessions of physio and 3 sessions with a chiropractor. Still have pain but movement is slightly improved. Haven’t slept right since January which does not help. It’s the worse thing I’ve ever gone through. I’m praying this exercise will help me sleep tonight. Thank you
