Hey, JR! I'm a 54yo woman, trying to prepare to take care of my elderly mother and myself when SHTF. I followed your instructions for the metal can faraday cage. It works perfectly!!! I put my phone in it & closed it up. It went straight to vm when a friend tried to call me. My solar generator fits great in it, along with many other things. I've made up a smaller can for quick access to LED flashlights and lanterns in the event of a power outage. Thank you so much!!!! If I can do this, ANYONE can!

my family already thinks im bonkers for prepping. now having trashcan emp's full of equipment makes them think ive completely lost my mind. it aint easy living in a higher level of comprehension.

NOTE. Power tool batteries have circuit boards in them. If the board gets damaged the battery is trashed. So you may want to put several tool batteries in there.

Brother, it sounds like what I really need is an EMP Shed! Cool video, thanks. God bless y’all!

Just make a faraday closet, shed or room big enough to store all your electonics and equipment. You can use the items regularly and store them after use.

Part of my homesteading setup I plan to turn my old barn into a massive Faraday cage so I can park my truck inside it.

Built my first metal trashcan Faraday cage and wrapped my solar panel boxes in 4 layers of heavy duty aluminum foil, was a good day. Going for some ammo boxes tomorrow and maybe one more trashcan and get all my solar battery stuff, cell phones, I even have an Android tablet and old phone loaded up with Survival PDFs/Books, gotta keep all that from frying! THANKS for this Video, exactly what I and I suspect the country needs, with some much crazy ramping up these days, just hope our luck holds, not sure I'm ready for what comes next!

Thanks. Good idea about the light source inside the trash can!

I made the trash can farday cage a couple of years ago. However, since then I got the Delta Pro & Panels, and what a great idea you presented here! Turning their boxes into faraday Cages, WOW! Excellent & way more affordable than what's on the market for larger equipment. Thank you so much!!!❤

You might be surprised to know a faraday cage doesn't necessarily require a complete metal enclosure with metal seals as long as there is a conductive metal skeleton completely surrounding the object(s) you're trying to protect. Electricity is magnetically attracted to any conductive metal with silver being at the top of the list. Aluminum is your best bet as well cheapest. What you have demonstrated here is excellent. I've seen it tested-- plus I built one very similar to yours by isolating the items in a non-conductive container, tape it up with aluminum tape and it's good to go.

Oh my goodness having solar panels that are extra is a blessing. Most people don't have what they need for a regular power outage let alone and EMP

I use Danish butter cookie tins with my HD back ups in cardboard sleeves.

For my metal trash cans, I first just put everything in a heavy duty yard bag and then just lower it into the can. I can put another one on top of it. Easy to pull everything out and reload items this way.

Small potato chip bags are great for small stuff. I tested this with my phone, no signal, no ringy dingy

WE DID IT AND IT WORKED! Thank you so much for the great instruction. We did the trash can method and made room for our cell phones, lap tops, solar generator and even more. I just did the tin foil gasket. We tried calling my cell several times and it actually blocked the signal. Happy October 4th everyone. I for one am not trusting what is really happening.

Thank you so much for this advice. It is such a relief to know one can make these things instead of paying unaffordable prices for ready made.
