Even if you have to pay $1000, a PC offers so much more in the form of what you can use it for, longevity, uprade-ability, repair-ability, no online play subscription, more games, emulators, the option for an optical drive for only $20, and so much more that it's worth the extra $300

Don't forget that you have to pay $80 for PSN+ every year. The PS5 pro costs way more than $700.

I built my first budget gaming PC years ago using one of your videos as a guide. Only spent 580 bucks. Was the best decision i ever made, made me confident in building pcs and was able to upgrade parts over time, now i have a 6950xt / 5800x3d build that does anything i need. Thanks jay

I love how this is a subtle, pro PCMR video!

In EU the pro even cost 200 dollars more than US which means over 1000 dollars if you want the stand and disc drive. Thats when building a PC starts making more sense

The price didn't go from $500 to $700, it went from $450 to $700 since it doesn't have a blue ray drive.

"Who cares about discs?"

This guy. This guy right here. Game preservation is a thing.

a PC is a project car, a console is a Kia. you like tinkering? get a PC. you want to do one thing? get a console

As someone who already owns a Series X and a PS5 and uses both on a 1440p monitor, I can confidently say this is most likely my final console generation and I'll be a strictly PC gamer after this current generation.

I don't even think 8k will ever be a thing for a very long time. Just seems very unnecessary. HDR would have a much bigger impact on visuals I think.

The other thing that people often forget is you can hook up your PS or Xbox controller to your PC and play your games like that for a LOT of titles and you can have your casual gaming experience like on your console.

NO WAY!! Love for the old GI Joe PSA snip. Thanks Jay! Those were the best as a kid

These prices definitely blurred the line between... "Just get a console." "PC Master Race"

The extra money you'd need to run the Rx6800 comes from just 5 months of PS+ Premium....

Disclaimer: I am a PC player and long ago abandoned consoles (PS2 maybe? lol). I have long said and continue to argue that PCs are better for gaming in almost every way - even if you want to game on your nice TV from your couch with a controller. However, there is something console players get that PC users will never get - optimization. Because a console is locked down with proprietary software and even some of the hardware, every console should behave the same way every time. Yes, obviously there are outliers just like there are with literally everything, but in general that PS5 sitting on Jay's desk should behave the same as any other PS5 in anyone else's house. Because of this, games released on consoles can be ultra optimized by the devs all the way down to the most miniscule of tweaks in an attempt to squeeze the most performance or the best looking visuals on potentially lesser hardware - and it should be rather consistent from machine to machine. This is why a lot of console gamers believe they're getting the better deal because they didn't have to do anything other than plug it in, and turn it on

Look, we ALL know more than one person in our lives that we just wish DIDN'T have a computer because they're so tech-illiterate that they're always asking for help. Do you want THAT person gaming on a custom gaming PC? Absolutely NOT. There's also just something to be said for the ease of use and convenience of a console - and for some people that's worth it even if they know they could be getting more with a PC

Anyway there's something for everyone, and I truly believe that the argument of "which is better" is literally the stupidest argument ever because they just aren't made for the same people for the same purpose

TY for coming to my TeD TaLk

I mean, specifically people are pissed that the price point went to $700 USD, and while there is a performance uplift (they didn't show it well), the main issue is that is 200 bucks more, with no disc drive included, and no vertical stand (which is whatever to me, but people did bring it up as a pain point). If people are spending that much (especially if they don't have really good internet), a disc drive is 100% a must.

I think the PS5 pro will sell, because people with $700 would rather feel like they got the nicest possible PlayStation rather than a low-end PC. It’s about perceived value and fomo.

I make these budget builds for every kid in my family who wants a computer. They absolutely love them and Im thankful I have a microcenter nearby.

The reason they said “67%” instead of “60 CUs” is because to 99.999% of people on the planet, “60 CUs” means absolutely nothing.

They won’t have a clue how many CUs the PS5 has, or even what that means (“is that like 4K or something?”)

But 67%… well, that’s clearly a more biggerer, betterer, more impressive number! You will obviously get 67% more graphics!

(This is still a rip off, just explaining how marketing droids think)
