Is buying a PS5 or Xbox really a better bang for your buck? Or, with a little creativity, can you build a gaming PC for the same price, and put shame to the Sony name?

Purchases made through some store links may provide some compensation to Linus Media Group.

Devil's Advocate: How much is a used PS5?

Technically speaking, with no Blu-ray drive you are competing with the $400 model

are we comparing the prices of a new PS5 vs the prices of used PC parts?

An AMD CPU with an intel GPU, the most unholiest thing in existence today!

Showing 20fps gameplay was a really nice way of reminding people to turn on ReBAR.

Mark Cerny just find this video amusing. The fact that you're buying every part as second hand, might as well just buy PS5 secondhand for $300.

If i want to build it right now, it will cost me around $850 to $950 as of 3/26/24

I love how Linus called the 6700xt and 3060ti 'boring' and then proceeded to show us all what makes those boring cards so useful, namely not having to fuck around with driver support and HDR implimentations, etc.

No hate on the A770, it's a cool card, but boring has its advantages sometimes.

You can't ignore the shipping if you are going to talk eBay. Shipping fee's cancel out most deals on eBay, especially shipping to Canada.

They didn’t add the shipping cost to those part prices. The cpu alone showed 35$ shipping and yet they only paid 35$ (or whatever it was) for the cpu on the list. It’s impressive what they built for a budget, but they should be more genuine with the true cost. Apples to Apples, not Apples to Steak.

The most important part of any PC build is a dependable power supply! I built and repaired PC's for over 20 years (15 at a custom build company) and the biggest issue I experienced were supply issues.

If you're buying used PC parts, you should also compare it to a used PS5. So around $330.

the thing about console vs PC is at the end of the day you also have a PC, that's worth it in my book

I'll state a few missed yet obvious points though. 1- Its 475$ vs 320$ if we being fair about going 2nd hand. 2- A PC is not limited to PS5 games. While a PS5 may have a few exclusives, there are hundreds if not thousands of games playable on PC but not on a PS5... 3- A PC is not ONLY a gaming machine. You won't be editing photos from your last trip on a PS5.

Last point is important why? Because if you need to buy, upgrade and maintain a PC alongside your PS5 anyway, it may only need marginally better components to match the performance of PS5.

I know this concept can't be done too often, but this really is my favourite type of PC gaming video. Classic LTT right here.

There is something magic about Linus building and presenting budget friendly PCs, one can see the twinkle is his eyes doing what he used to during the struggle years.

Just realized the bag he showed us is half the price of the ps5💀

I feel that with the upscaling comparison, say with the beard, that can come down to the sharpness filter more than anything, and thats adjustable.
