An RFE/RL investigation exposes how Russian oil or oil products are evading sanctions and arriving in the European Union. Following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Russian ships are barred from docking at EU ports. So how do these shipments end up there?

German TV journalists already had a report on this last week, but none seemed to want to make big waves about it.

Very good reporting. This needs to be more widely known. That Russian has to be sanctioned.

This information needs to be made available to the EU, USA and UK so measures can be taken to stop and punish those responsible. And by that I mean not just ship owners but captains and crew.
Preferably with long jail terms and confiscation of ships and other equipment.
Or charged with piracy or theft or some other serious maritime offence. Charged with multiple offences, each of which carry huge fines and jail sentences. I'm sure there are any number of maritime law firms who would love to take part in the prosecution.
Fight fire with fire.

I hope the owners of these ships get heavy fines for circumventing the sanctions. Thanks for the report.

I think we need to ask ourselves the value of having Turkey as a member of NATO. All ships have to pass through either Kiel, Bosporus or the Suez canals. I think it's safe to assume that the vast majority are going through the Bosporus. How involved is the Turkish government in this? They undermine NATO by objecting to Sweden and Finland, they threaten other NATO members, they bypass sanctions on Russia even going so far as to increase cooperation. I get that they have a large military and are probably better off on our side but are they really on our side?

as a Romanian I am disgusted by what these Russians are doing in our waters and hope that swift action will be taken against them.

Smuggling oil from Russia is more damaging to the West than smuggling cocaine I hope the captain and owners will be treated accordingly.

This Greek Connection is widely known in Russian circles. It's been brought up even in YT threads - by Putin's keyboard warriors.

The Russian ships look small enough to fit in the canal system that links the Sea of Azov to the Caspian Sea. But, that's just a hunch.

Russian criminal oligarchs need to held accountable, these western shipping owners need to be exposed and punished....

There’s scuttlebutt Russia is selling discounted oil to China, who in turn is selling that oil to the EU. Also, I just wanted to use the word scuttlebutt.
