The airing cupboard uses lost heat from the boiler to dry clothes, towels etc. it's simply energy efficiency, use heat that escapes the hot water tank before it's lost... No matter how much you lag it there's always escaped heat, so with the door closed the airing cupboard becomes a slow dry area...

I couldn’t live in the US. No kettles, egg cups, kitchen scales, lockable windows, etc
No scales to weigh the flour to make the bread to make into toast to cut into soldiers to dip in an unwashed egg in an egg cup to eat with my cup of tea made from water boiled in a kettle! Australia 🇦🇺

Never ceases to amaze me that people unfamiliar with separate taps can't figure out that if you want warm handwashing water you use the plug then FILL THE SINK with some water, job done. Easy but apparently mind boggling. Who knew.

She clearly does not understand the window locks, We don't lock the windows as a rule, but in a child's room they would be locked so the child could not open them unsupervised and then fall out or if your leaving house for a few days or longer you lock them for added security. with old-fashioned Victorian sash windows the latch is easier for you and a thief to open.

Washing up bowls
1. It takes less water and it stays hotter for longer.
2. You can pour liquids down the sink without contaminating the washing up water.
3. You are less likely to chip crockery on a plastic bowl.
4. You can soak dishes and still have access to the sink.

If you are washing dishes in the sink and need the sink for something else, you can lift the bowl out. It also makes the sink much easier to keep clean and you are less likely to break plates and glasses.

Older houses still have wooden sash window frames, but most houses now have double - glazed plastic windows, which can be lockable.

No self respecting British home would be without a kettle! Good God man, how would we make tea? 🙃

The Egg cups, these are used for 'Soft Boiled Egg with Soldiers'.
Hopefully soft boiled egg is obvious, it is placed in the Egg cup, with the larger end upper most if in Lilliput,
or the small end upper most if in Blefuscu, anywhere else it would not be relevant.
You the remove the top of the egg, to reveal the white, and a soft yellow (yolk).
You then take your 'Soldiers', these are cut fingers of a slice of bread or toast, these should be thin enough to allow them to be dipped into the egg.
The soldiers having been dipped are eaten, similar to dunking biscuits in tea or coffee, or maybe cookies in milk.
once the yolk is eaten use a spoon to eat the white of the egg, feel free to discard (throw away) the shell.
If an egg cup is not available, you can use a napkin ring.

This meal is a favourite for many children, often taken at breakfast.

Hope this is somewhat useful. 😊😊

The uk plug is different because our electricity system is the best in the world

Did you just say $100 dollars (for a kettle !!!???) - DUH! You can buy one for less than 10 quid. AND they are NOT just used to make tea. With the cost of gas and electricity rising, they save time & money pre-heating water for cooking pasta or when you need to heat a pan of water (rather than heating a pan of cold water on the cooker or stove top). Great for noodles, ramen or the UK Pot Noodles (a brand that has been around since the 70's and made in Wales). So an essential kitchen item that you will find in every UK home, student accommodation or even hotel rooms... Every Brit knows the phrase "I will be with you soon, put the kettle on..." 😂😂😂

Seperate taps - hot is hot - but cold is also drinking water. It's that simple. Turn the cold tap on and drink the cold water. It's safe to do so.

It takes a full kettle 2 minuets to boil in the UK, boil the same amount of water in that kettle in the USA it takes 8 minuets

Kettles in the UK Start at the equivilent to like $10 haha its not a rich thing. It's more rich to use your stove to heat up water. Takes so much longer too. Electric kettles can take seconds if you do splash out on a good one

I own a Henry Hoover he collects all my dust,
he is made from coloured plastic,
so I know he will never rust,
he is not just a domestic appliance
like a toaster a iron bought from the mall
he is part of our family a treasured addition,
but most of all my pal.

I have a hot water bottle on my back now to ease the pain from my ruptured disc, when it's cold in the winter I have one to cuddle and another under my feet, can't imagine life without them. To get warm water in the sink you put the plug in the waste hole, they are attached to the sink with a metal chain.

We have kettles because we have a proper power supply.
