As a Brit I wouldn’t leave meat out of the fridge. Gross!

You do meet some very odd Brits if you have concluded that we leave meat un-refrigerated.Are you finding some remote tribes of ancient picts & celts to provide your info?

Literally EVERYONE does Christmas Crackers at Xmas (Christmas)!

There's always a hat, a joke + a little small game inside of one!

Cheese is meant to be eaten at room temperature, and cured meats have undergone a preservation process (smoking, drying etc) so it's perfectly safe to leave them out of the fridge.

I have literally no idea what you're talking about concerning leaving meat out of the fridge.

I'm a Brit. Nobody leaves meat out.

You cure meat as a way of preserving it without refrigeration, it's kind of the point - most European countries have a proud history of cured meats

Never put "x" when texting your boss. Unless you have a particularly affectionate relationship. x 😂

Wow, I was really surprised that Americans don’t put kisses at the end of messages. I thought it was just something everyone did 😂

“X” isn’t a new thing that’s come with the digital age. It’s always been done - for things such as writing birthday or Christmas cards. It is a kiss. So it’s purely informal. A straight guy would never send another man an “X”. Nor would they ever send one to any other person - other than their girlfriend, wife or their very young children. It would be inappropriate. However women do send it to each other. And usually to close male friends. However you have to be careful - because as an adult - sending it to another adult can be seen as quite an intimate sign.

Cricket is easy:
You have two sides, one out in the field and one in. Each man that's in the side that's in goes out, and when he's out he comes in and the next man goes in until he's out. When they are all out, the side that's out comes in and the side that's been in goes out and tries to get those coming in, out. Sometimes you get men still in and not out.
When a man goes out to go in, the men who are out try to get him out, and when he is out he goes in and the next man in goes out and goes in. There are two men called umpires who stay out all the time and they decide when the men who are in are out. When both sides have been in and all the men have been out, and both sides have been out twice after all the men have been in, including those who are not out, that is the end of the game

You seem to forget that meats like salami are dry cured anyway. They’re just hung up to dry out and there is very little moisture left in them to facilitate bacterial development. A refrigerator only inhibits bacterial growth, but a few hours isn’t going to make a lot of difference. My grandmother told me how, on the mill she grew up in, they’d slaughter a pig for the winter, and would go to the larder to cut off what they needed for dinner. If a rat had got to it and nibbled at some, they just trimmed that bit off. I’m still the same with cheese; if it gets some mound on it, just trim it off, it’s fine underneath.

Salami, Chorizo, Cured meat of ANY kind can be found hanging by strings from the ceilings all over Europe. The key is in the word 'cured' or even 'smoked'. Before refrigeration many peoples used this method to preserve meat. As for Steaks, I would keep them in the fridge (under refrigeration) but I prefer to cook them when the outside is no longer Bright Red, or indeed Red at all.
Aged Meat is a far better flavour. Of course you don't do this with Chicken unless you want to die. With Game Birds like Pheasant and Grouse, some people 'hang them dead' until the first maggot appears...I don't go that far but it is also better Aged. Aged meat in the UK sells at premium prices.

X = Kiss
XXX = Lots of kisses
= Lots & lots of kisses
Always an odd number.
Even numbers of Xs are just plain weird.

Who leaves meat and cheese just lying about out of the fridge? I have never ever encountered anyone doing this deliberately in my 33 years. Madness.

Beans on toast is the British equivalent of grilled cheese sandwich . Quick, easy, can be eaten as any meal or a big snack. Probably the first thing you learn to “cook” as a kid and very nostalgic.
