The newest PZ4 Pirelli tires are actually quite good. Tire tests have shown that they are actually comparable to the PS4S in most tests now. I think the biggest difference in comparing these two cars is actually from the differences in wheel designs. The older wheel is lighter than the UberHeavy wheels on the most recent cars. Also the wider wheel of the newer cars really stretches the tire and I think that reduces subjective comfort more than anything. I think they switched to the Pirelli tires because they are more efficient than the PS4S tires. The tread width of the Pirelli tires is only 7.9 inches where the PS4S tires are 8.8 inches.

I was just researching this this morning. Awesome timing. Cheers!

Re comment about potholes, the car is about 1/2t heavier compared to a 3 series or an A4 so ride comfort will take a hit.

Personally I preferred the Michelins, I’ve noticed that the grip is better when accelerating, 35% less wheel spin/slip.

Excellent compare and contrast of the new tires/wheel. I've not seen this discussed anywhere else regarding these differences. Thanks.

I would surmise that the changes are all to do with increased aerodynamics and therefore increased range. Hence the design pattern on the new wheels and rim edging over the sidewall.

Hello, Thanks for the very informative video. Are these tires safe in temperatures under 5°C or 41°F?

Got more that one curb rashes after two weeks from getting my Y 2022 performance. An issue no question. The ride also very rough. You are too kind Tesla in my mind.

Totally correct, the "California" look is not good to keep wheels from getting damaged by curbs, I damaged 2 wheels slighly on my Y Performance, never had a car with basically the wheels being slightly wider than the wheels themselves.

I have the Michelin 4S 235/35R19 tires on my Golf R. Best sports tire I've ever had.

I love Pirelli too, but stopped using them for summer performance since my first set on a 2010 GTI with all season Pirelli Pzero Niros. They were ok, but the Toyo Proxes I put on next were better.

What about the Double Glazed Glass being for heat and cold retention? It may mean that saving a few miles of range will be a side benefit.

So what do you make of this Richard? When you picked up your new 2021 M3P, both you and your cameraman thought the ride was more comfortable than the previous version which goes against what John is saying...

Richard, quick question re: winter tyres for a Model 3 LR. What do you recommend, or do I need to go with the Tesla Pirelli WINTER SOTTOZERO..?

Hey mate! Any thought yet on what tyre provides the better handling yet?

So when the Pirelli's are worn, what would you replace them with? I was thinking 245 (not 235) Michelins?

At which tyre pressure was the test performed?

Still want a HUD and that wooden strip gone. However this is a tyre review. Good stuff.
