Those hooks on the bottom of the doors are for safety reason.
They help to protect the occupants of the car more in the event of a side collision so that the door doesn't collapse inwards so easily.

Man, you're really tempting me, but I love my 2018 Model 3 Performance! Still, I would like the cooled seats and quieter ride. It's hard to believe they even managed to improve the stereo too. It was already so good.

Great, no nonsense video. I have this in blue - it’s a really good car. Best hidden feature is Joe Mode, the cabin is so quiet it makes all the bongs and electric sounds much quieter.

That steel protrusion (3:36 mark) at the bottom of the door is for higher occupant safety. The door sill will interlock with the lower door protrusion in a collision.
