Gallium can easily melt in your hand and this is because it has a low melting point of 86 °F (30 °C). It can remain in a liquid state in temperatures as low as 32 °F (0 °C). Mining gallium can be difficult as it does not occur as an independent element in the Earth’s crust. It is a by-product from when bauxite is turned into alumina.

Gallium has a cool and unusual characteristic that you can melt it with your body temperature. Holding onto a piece of gallium will cause it to melt. You can find gallium in many optoelectronics, such as LEDs, and in household items such as alloys, computers and DVD’s.

It was found by Paul-Emile Lecoq de Boisbaudran, a French scientist, in 1875. It is used as a safer alternative to mercury, and it can handle higher temperatures. It shares a higher-density liquid state with a short list of other materials that includes water, silicon, germanium, bismuth and plutonium.

Gallium is listed as a critical raw material because China dominates the market with over 97%. Because of this, both the U.S. and EU are putting more effort into finding other deposits around the world. Unfortunately, this has led to unconventional deposits, for example, deep-sea mining

Lastly, gallium can be found in the jewelry business in the production process of artificial gadolinium gallium garnet.

I want to say it can be dangerous and we still can don't know it.

Far more superior than silicon, so rare. It all makes sense to see a 2% gain. For 80x the price. 🤦🏻‍♂️

If you have a background/interest in engineering and you don't know about gallium AND you're over 18... You have no business being in engineering.
