One thing I got told was:

If they just started, and they've got the right mindset, you are going to see explosive results from their training. Just because it's easier to get from zero to 50% than it is to get from 50% to 75%.

I don't remember the quote word for word. But basically my sensei was trying to say not to panic if you were a Green or brown belt struggling and you see a white belt who just seems to get it everything.

It's easy to forget how fast you learn the basics when you have the right mindset. But it's always going to slow a little as you learned more complicated and technical things.

Motivation is also a very important factor. As long as you show that you want to do the sport and that you intend to try your best the sensei’s will see this and do their best

I personally think it's never too late to start martial arts. I started kyokushin karate at 17 and now I am 20... Ofc it took some time to get used to it at first but in the end it's all worth the adrenaline..

Added, Nat, the boxer's footwork looked cute yesterday 👋☺️☺️
Nat, just now the coach pretended that his hand was hurt, and he made sounded like a duck animal sound, is funny 🤣🤣 🐤 that " Booom ", "BANG " is funny too 😂🥊
Keep doing these skits, it's hilarious hahahah👋😂🤣

38 right now. Started in November and lost 5kg. I'm a slim build. Gotta find goals eg being able to head kick in sparring etc. Never too late! The combo list is constantly growing!!

Love what you're doing, man. I'd love to see a video where you show some stretches you did to improve your martial arts.

Piece of advice as someone has been doing Muay Thai for almost 10 years, it can't be a hobby, it has to be a lifestyle... if you're only training once a week, that's better than nothing...but you will not progress...it has to be part of your life, like eating, sleeping, work, school, family, etc..

The biggest thing is being coachable. Being athletic is also great but the one thing every great athlete has in common is that they are able to set aside their ego, listen to their coach and improve their skills.

I haven't been training really all that long. I did combatives in the Military, very basic BJJ type stuff. Picked up grappling for a year and a half. Then picked up Muay Thai for about a year. Got decent at Muay Thai within 6-months, the least likley of the three I thought I would. I have two left feet but somehow make it work? I think the biggest thing for me and maybe many out there is ignoring what judgement others are sending your way, focusing on your movements, and really trying to slow things down and speed them back up. Today alone I saw a video from last night and worked on my hook for like 20-minutes. Crossjab, hold to side of bad, put hand to face, hook.

Remember, learn striking is faster than learn grappling
Because grappling has so many positions, defenses, escapes and tecniques
