This lecture is unbelievable. Fascinating how articulated Jordan Peterson is

I listened to this like 5 years ago and today I was studying programming code which was talking about abstraction and it led me back to this video and 5 years later it finally makes sense wow

Humans used abstract thinking to extract out stories... yet it takes Jordan Peterson to point these things out to the vast majority of us

Yes. Abstraction is what is needed in peaceful life.
We follow abstraction in object oriented programming.
But we don’t follow abstraction in real world.

This hits the nail on the Dawkins debate
The unity of jungian archetypes, memetics and the Baldwin effect.
It also resolves Jung's quote, ideas have people

This is a great presentation & alot to think about💖

P.s.- this popped up in my Tube feed after research some Vida on abstract painting... Plus I've watched tons of Dr. Peterson's work too. Makes sense! 😊

I hope people of the future inherit the ability to teach Bible stories starting at high levels of abstraction onwards to lower levels of abstraction. I always found reading a bible verse once a day in Sunday school to be pointless when we're not taught the stories that we're supposed to know at higher levels of abstraction so individual verses can be made sense of in context.

Jordan Paterson as usual I do agree with every word he spoke in brrealnt form
Also he was and still prime example of my principle of distinguishing the person from what is being said

Its not about whether what he says is right or wrong, its that hes being honest, straight -- 'speaking his', well thought out, 'truth'. Take it or leave it. Thats the difference.

Abstraction is the whole of the cognative function built on sensory input, which as that values is an abstract experience.

He repeatedly states that "God only knows.." and in this he is absolutely correct. Lol. Nonetheless, he does have some good insights although he, himself, is still actively searching. As I've watched many of his lectures I can truly appreciate that he often admits he doesn't have all the answers either.

Y'all realise he doesnt have a point and sort of just keeps the monologue going with vague intellectual and historical references and without any general direction. Thats why the title has to be "what we can learn from blabla", because the person who uploaded also doesnt see what his points are

Peaceful people usually are abstract thinkers.

Take my hand. Not literally but just consider it for a moment. It exists as an object in the world. To you and everyone else its just an object, a representation, an idea...thus DaVinci or Michelangelo could paint or sculpt it and thereby represent it as an object. But. .to me my hand isn't merely an inert object. It's part of my body. And everything and everyone: are driven by the animating power, the life-force, the yearning, the striving, the desiring which Schopenhauer called the Will. My hand is an object which lies within space and time. But at the same time its an objectification of the Will, and the Will is an energy which lies outside and transcends space and time. Hence the title "The World as Will and Representation." Youre welcome.

yep, Jordon is certainly abstract, but his leanings are of self, nothing else.
