Americans are among the biggest consumers of ultra-processed foods in the world. In fact, ultra-processed foods make up more than half of an adult's diet, and two-thirds of a child's diet. Those are the findings uncovered in a new CBS documentary that looks at why these foods have become so common in our diets and how gaps in federal regulations are failing to keep pace.

It's sad that people are ignorant about basic nutrition and how important it is to prepare your own food.

The corruption inherent in Big Food in the sale of supermarket shelf space is rarely addressed.

Currently on Whole30. I recommend it to anyone. It’s how we should naturally eat. 🙂

I love Bernie Sanders! What could the food be doing to our bodies? In short, it’s killing us! It’s estimated that 93% of American adults are insulin resistant, which is linked to inflammation and every single chronic disease (cardiovascular disease, cancer, IBD, HBP, autoimmune, obesity, anxiety, depression, etc). When people cut out sugars, processed foods, grains, and seed/vegetable oils, it can help immensely. When you lower carb intake, you can reverse symptoms of many diseases. A ketogenic diet is very effective with epilepsy, Alzheimer’s, anxiety, depression, and many other brain disorders.

You could learn to read labels, stop buying crap food, and discipline your kids when they cry for junk food.

No complex answer. Greed took over . Its considered more difficult to do the right or healthy thing by the populus that enriches them.

Not just America, but the entire "Western" World.

Maybe if we teach children in schools, actual nutrition value. And what hyperproces foods are how to cook for themselves. Then maybe things would be different.

Bernie Sanders. Cigarettes are bad for people. Also Bernie Sanders. Taking a paid vacation from Phillip Morris. Why isn't Cigarettes illegal? Cause the politicians take money from big tobacco. Same with food.

Because buying food has healthy fats usually cost twice as much as unhealthy food. Plus a good amount of food is banned In other countries

Healthy food is to expensive, even the processed food that is better for you is ridiculously expensive! There are these chickpea chips that I love to death, I can't afford to buy a bag because it's to much. I can barely afford to feed myself. I have to make sure that I measure out everything. I can only afford one egg for breakfast 6 days our of the week. I prefer 2 because two hard boiled eggs has enough protein to get me to lunch. I get 74 dollars in food stamps a month to feed me for a month. After doing my shopping I should have enough right now to get me through to my paycheck in the first week of October. I can't afford fruit, I can't afford, healthy options. I have to pick and choice if I really need to get certain taxed items and if I can afford to do my laundry. How is it that I live in a first world country yet it feels almost 3rd world?!
