Repairing a Wooden Gate (All Chop, No Chat ASMR #Woodworking )

Well technically I am a #handyman first and woodworker second so today I actually live up to my business name and fix something :P How to repair a wooden door or gate will really depend on what tools you have and how much you care. This is the garbage room for our unit block, the outside gate is 30 years old hit by sun and rain constantly, and only needs to keep non-residents out of the bin room, so no finesse is required here! While nearing the end of its life, rather than installing a new gate this time I decided to give it one last chance and repair it instead. This is a no-nonsense utilitarian fix. Get it working, and stop it from rotting as best as possible without spending much or being too fussy. There are a few good little tips throughout the build that may help you with a similar job.

This is an ASMR-style All Chop, No Chat video. There are a few annotations but hit me up in the comments if you have any questions. Enjoy!

For my American and International friends, I've got you covered on Amazon (also Affiliate Links) with the tools used in this video:
Here you'll find almost all the tools I use in my shop from the Bosch Mitre saw, to Kreg Gear to Glue and Sandpaper :D

You fixed and improved! You are right, it still has life left and, thanks to you, it will continue to serve its purpose.
Don't you just hate when those Phillip head screws do this crap?! Good solution!

James, even all this neat remedial work wouldn’t help save my current chook house door.😅

Nice one mate, sometimes you just have to let the work do the talking.

Nice chamfer and not a kangaroo in sight. Funny watching you snap off the wood 'fillers', I did that with 3mm drill bits when I fixed my gate... THREE times, good job I bought a pack of 10 off the market. The other thing that strikes me is that we watched you fix a gate, which is our choice and that's fine, if I'd videoed me doing mine no one would give a rats arse and it would never get viewed, so I didn't. No animosity intended, just an observation.

Very nice job, I love the dremel solution as I was wondering how to get rid of that stubborn screw and also those fillings for the new screws. Btw, should the back of the door have your logo? :D.
