I'm glad that some of the practices held during Day of the Dead is shared in the Philippines, it makes the passing of a loved one less painful year after year. Instead of remembering our grief, we share happy memories and occasionally funny moments experienced with said loved one.

I'm not at all Mexican, Hispanic etc. But I like the holiday of Dia de los Meurtos by just hearing about it's traditions, significance, how it's celebrated etc. And even though I've never been to a Dia de los Meurtos celebration before, I do want to go to one at least once in my life. It sounds fun and I think it's a wonderfully positive holiday that I'd like to incorporate into my own Halloween time celebrations when I have my own family. I might not make any calaveras by hand but I love the traditions & significance of setting up an ofrenda/altar in the home to honor the memory of deceased friends & family and of going to their graves and bringing them their favorite foods and beverages and staying at their graves for a day or night like a traditional family picnic. It sounds so lovely.

Thank you for showing how this celebration has gone world wide & explaining the distinctions between them, how ever briefly!

Given that "New" Mexico, Arizona and parts of Texas were Mexican grounds, it is obvious that they should celebrate it.

It's cool that it's more of a positive thing to honor the dead. Here is the America it's more of an empty meaningless grieving for a few hours.

And another thing I am Mexican but it is a tradition that can be adopted by anyone but siempt and when the meaning is respected and that an explanation of everything that entails for something UNESCO declared patrimony of humanity only be happy with those who partied On and happy with those who share it is the call that makes Mexico to the world
