origen azteca, nunca falta el peruano o argentino que dice que es de origen latinoamericano confundiendolo con el dia de todos los santos que es un festejo europeo. el dia de muertos es un festejo criollo. por cierto los aztecas eran los unicos que tenian un dios de la muerte. ni los mayas tenian ese dios.
