And the fact the the whole culture celebrates it at the same time is nice.

We, Vietnamese and most Asians, celebrate something similar but it's more of a death-anniversary on the day that specific family past. But no where near this festive.

Still! Love the sense family, the respect for the dead, the colors, everything. :-)

As someone who was born and raised in the U.S. and being of Mexican descent I had heard "oh today is el dia de los santos innocentes or today is el dia de los muertos" but it was a tradition that was mainly part of southern Mexico. I have family in Chihuahua which is in the north and they had never celebrated Day of the Dead, until recently in my 35 years of life. A cousin of mine in Chihuahua posted pics last year of their altar that she had created with the buzz and excitement from what her kids were learning in school about el Dia de los Muertos, for a couple of our deceased members- grandparents and the aunts and uncles that have now passed on. It was very interesting, cool and also very weird because it's not something we've ever celebrated but as we all become more informed and with the Global appeal that the wonderful movie Coco had, it's become more and more popular not just gaining popularity in the U.S. but around the World. I think I may just make an altar this year.

when the aztecs invented chocolate caliente but it was not hot as in temperature it was hot with spices and wine if you do ever try spicy hot chocolate you maybe surprised how good it tastes but dont go over board with the spice
