Coraline escaped, its stated throughout the book and shown in the move that the cat knows specific places for portals to access the "other world". The Beldam couldn't have made another world to trick coraline because the Beldam requires a consistent supply of childrens souls to take to fuel her fake reaity, the "other dad" states in the movie that the world and the "other people" reflects the Beldams strength, so because the Beldam wasn't able to get Carolines soul her strength was decaying little by little, that explains why the "Other World" was slowly decaying as well.

"The cat leads Coraline to the door" But we see him when he sees her go in and he straight up looks annoyed, he even growls and his ear twitches. He doesn't look happy that she's going in there at all.

Nobody realises, that there is no key hole on the, ,other" side of the door, so throwing the key in the well is brillant, because it is now impossible to unlock the door again, because the key is now on the side where it can't be used. I understand the shape of the garden as a symbol that the Beldam is dead, because in the other world the garden looked like a living face (obviously coraline's...) when she was the Beldam's target, but now, the garden looks like the Beldam's skull and for me, thst represents the Beldam's death...

I have a simple answer to that question - This is a cat! Cats do as they please!

The cat is my favorite character in the film because the mysterious ways he works. Perhaps he could be a gray character or he most likely led coralline into the traps because he knew that she would have to face them head on. but overall it’s left up to your own interpretation what he’s up to.

I say that the well is another door to the other world because when it shows the well, (for me) it looks like the little door that led coraline to the other world again when there were webs all around it. So if she threw the key down the well, that probably helped the beldam open the door and turn the normal world around and tricked coraline into thinking that she escaped. That is probably why at the end the garden looks like the beldam's face and why the cat disappeared into the sign

The real question is who build the pink house?

Plottwist: the cat is the actual mastermind of it all and not the beldam

I feel like the well is part of the cat or an entity because in the book the tunnel to the other world as stated “felt alive” Coraline leaving the Beldame behind was basically killing her so why would she drag Coraline back into the house and not just drag her into the well when she was closer. I believe the cat is secretly the mastermind to all of this, how could he know so much and be able to go and come as he pleases and he seems stronger than her. Everytime she is close to the Beldame he disappears until the final showdown and he chooses not to talk for a strange reason in front of the Beldame.

"Coraline's meaning can only be seen by those who have eyes to see. Unfortunately most have buttons."
What a powerful line right there

I believe that the Cat has nothing to do with the Beldame, he just knows her ways. I think the the Cat is the other twin sister Dad. I have evidence to prove. Every time he is around the beldame he suddenly growls or makes some type of face. He knows the Beldames ways and doesn’t want the same thing to happen to other kids like his poor daughter. He’s basically giving Coraline clues. The other Mother slowly dies without Coraline. In the movie she says, “No don’t leave me! I’ll die without you!”. She dies without the souls. The Beldame is a changeling. Basically a fairy that has grew up to be evil because they knew they were abandoned. She only found love at one point, but later the love of her life died. The Beldame knew she wouldn’t see him again because is a fairy, and fairy’s have no souls. So she decided to take other people’s souls. She also sacrificed her own eyes to do this. So when she is dead she is DEAD. In the books, the beldame would kidnap fairy’s. And I absolutely think this is true. She probably knew were she came from and wanted revenge, so she kidnapped her people and learned they’re ways. After she learned they’re ways she became to practice and study it. She probably also kidnapped grownups, but it probably didn’t work so she changed her plans to kids because they’re more easy to manipulate.

One thing thats intrigues me is the fact that the cat somehow enters the other world without using the main door. So, theres multiple entrences into the other world

Coraline needs to quit eating those shrooms around the well.

The cat magically disappeared behind the stake because he is a wizzard himself I would say. And in my opinion a good one, yet a pride one. There's also magic existing in the real world, as bobinsky's mice can apparently talk (telling him her name is Coraline and not Caroline) and stuff like this.

The father isn't eating the pizza and says it is great!
The sisters talk about pink drink coraline is offered in the beginning of other world.
The cat disappeared because coraline was led to believing she had escaped.
And things were set so good she couldn't differentiate between the 2 worlds, and she was the hero here, in the amount that's just believable to her, while keeping it real too.
And the face thing was quite subtle too.
She got the gloves. And everything she was hoping to get.
The danger was this, that she hadn't escaped.

When Coraline dropped the key down the well, I think that was her biggest mistake because, When it showed the garden that resembles the other mother at the end, it looked like she was smiling, did you notice that? What if it looked like that because the other mother has the key!?

Either that or Coraline is intended to become the next other mother!?

Its possible that the cat acts the ways he does is because he was made or sent to protect and warn children about the beldam, maybe that's why he disappeared because he knows that his business there was done

If you’re going into this much detail maybe the other creatures could enter the real world because they’re not humans, or maybe the other wybie couldn’t escape because the real wybie was still in the other world, or maybe some of the beings were artificially made from that soul dust or whatever and some weren’t like mice weren’t obviously, also it doesn’t seem like the mother has complete control of the world seemingly since the cat and children have a will of their own, and earlier in the movie the other mother was eyeing the creatures in a hostile and intimidating way like she was warning them not to act up or help coralline like when she looked back at the other wybie and told him to smile, and as for the ending with the cat, the first scene with cat when he was a about to leave coralline he got up on a talk branch and coralline said come back, I think the cat is a supernatural being, he said he had been going there for a while, he said the other wybie told him the truth and that’s probably why he can’t talk, and there seems to be an emphasis on choice, like she has to choose to give up her eyes and her soul so I think she did actually escape but idk

Also it doesn’t like the other mother has the power to create the world but the souls from the children do

This is my idea for Coraline 2.... I want to see Coraline and Wybie grown up and dating. Coraline's parents would of passed away, but Wybie and Coraline have a kid together. The 3 of them are settled into the pink palace. However, The Beldam somehow survived the events of the last movie and makes a great recovery and calls out to the kid with a doll. The kid falls for The Beldams trap, goes into the other world and ends up captured. Wybie and Coraline find the doll and realise their haunting past is far from over. Together, they go on one last adventure to end The Beldam once and for all. But there's a twist.... The Beldam has grown stronger than last time, and manages to bypass into the real world! Before they know it, Coraline and Wybie manage to lock The Beldam in the house and burn it down, watching all their memories and nightmares go up in flames along with the evil mother herself, killing her for good. But before the movie ends, we see the family of 3 moving into a lovely new house, where they all live happy. 😁 Just my idea of a second movie.
