I took this video and uploaded it simply so I could have it in an English project because I couldn't find a clip of this scene anywhere. I didn't need it to be amazing quality so please dont comment on the quality of it, I dont care. I'm also not a tech person so using my cell phone to record the video off my computer was the easiest way for me.

Honestly I didn't benefit anything from the education system except when I had teachers like her who actually cared. An endless stream of tests, essays and research papers doesn't help you learn the material. It helps you learn to pass so you can move on. I'd much rather have a teacher who cared.

Teachers that can help students learn and have fun are what high school need in this world. The fact that this is a true story is unbelievable. The beginning they were disrespectful and mean to her The end they did want to leave her class

I had so many teachers that didn’t even care about their job. You could tell they didn’t want to be teaching but I had some that cared. And those teachers are the ones I look back at fondly and if I had the chance. I would thank each and everyone of them for making me enjoy learning with them.

The look they give each other at 1:40 when the camera cuts to the diaries... it's priceless. They probably made up their minds even before Miss G and Campbell walked into the office. I'm glad there are good people in the board of education.

The only reason they made ms.gruell continue teach was that they let Umbridge into the ministry of magic so that she can enter Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry as the principal.

I know it should be obvious but teaching usable knowledge is what schools should all be about. Not just cramming facts but using logic and critical thinking and exploring interests and ideas. Learning social skills and learnibg about different cultures. The history is being whitewashed for centuries. It is time to change schooling systems.

I mean, but Umbridge wasn't wrong...
Her attitude is annoying, for sure, but the core of her argument is pretty serious. There are millions of kids to get through each year and teachers are outnumbered. How does a teacher catch every single one of them, especially in poorer-funded communities? Not saying the Room 203 kids don't deserve having a "home" but the logistics of all this is kind of bad.

Sympathy for Dolores Umbridge.

Her educational philosophy and methodology, to which she clearly attaches her self-identity, are under threat with Gruwell's successes.

Some merit too in raising the inability to scale all of Gruwell's methods, but to her question of "what if every teacher performed in this way?" I say... "what if."
