What exactly is a war flag and why is it important the military have one?

In straightforward terms, it's a modified version of a nation's flag, donned by its military during campaigns.

These days, however, not many countries bother with specific war flags. Instead, they often stick to using their regular national flag for military purposes.

Nevertheless, war flags have deep roots, playing a role in major conflicts for ages.

so far i think my Country's war flag is both unique and easy to aquire. Our war flag (Philippines) is basically just the National Flag 🇵🇭 but upside down (Red on Top, Blue below). and No to us it does not mean we are in distress it is a sign that the blood of our soldiers and innocent victims of the conflict and the bravery of their sacrifice.

There's a funny tale: apparently, England adopted St. George's flag ON RENT FROM GENOA, as Richard Lionheart saw that no pirate would attack a ship flying the St. George's cross (the pirates apparently knew that attacking a Genoese ship meant certain death) and was willing to pay for the privilege of keeping English ships safe. They stopped paying in 1771, but a few years ago Genoa demanded back rent.
Maybe this story was made up... But Genoa actually demanded back rent, and what they actually wanted was to make people talk about their city and visit, and they got that.

Flags will always be with us till the End!
They are there to let others know who is who and what is going on.
When an EMP takes away all the electronics, the flag will be seen first, albeit a sign of peace or the messenger of war!

The way you fail to mention the atrocities associated with the Hammer & Sickle is very telling.

As far I know then Finnish Army (Defence forces now) used swastika before nazi-party took it. We have one of the oldest air force and they started using it, its not tilted like nazi swastika but on its flats side. And crazy how russians are fighting nazis with literally painting Z on everything. Its the modern day nazi symbol.

Edit: Few years back there was HUGE conflict here in Finland about ”Joulutorttu” which is a star shaped damson jam tart, very old and traditional christmas treat here (google ”joulutorttu” and you will see what I mean. The thing was somene in their twisted leftist mind decided that they should be banned because they looked like swastikas. This is why I am in great pace to became historian. Its scary how little knowledge about history can doom society. Scary that some leftist movements acts just like how hitler and his little gang acted in early 1920s

The narrator managed to get many difficult to pronounce words spot on, but unfortunately flubbed a few. This seems to be common with a younger generation that reads about foreign and/or historical events, persons, and places without hearing them pronounced (in news broadcasts or documentaries on television or radio).

Great effort, though.

The opening graphics of the video are misleading. The Hellenic city states and Rome didn't have flags in the sense we understand them. The closest you'd get would be Roman legionary standards (in the form of their vexilla), but they were more like regimental colours and not representing Rome as a whole

Missouri and Kentucky never seceded, but we’re still represented in the flag.

It always makes me chuckle when modern Nazis use the confederate battle flag as the general flag

The Nazis used the Hooked Cross (Hakenkreuz) not Swastika. Please do better research.
