Love this. It's like, you're 100% in the right on this one Gambini, but because you pissed me off earlier in the trial, you're overruled lol.

I wish we had gotten more chances of seeing Fred Gwynne in roles like this. He was perfect as a judge, and his delivery in this scene was great.

Lucid always killed me, like the judge was surprised or at least acknowledging that they were finally speaking the same language. After "everything that guy just said is BS", they both take a turn together and it's not just Vinny whose tone changes, everyone turns up the heat because the weakest link just got stronger, raising the bar. Some people do what they love to do for a career, some people so what they're best at, Vinny clearly did neither of those but he has conviction, believes in what he is doing, and that is the key. Even when I was a cashier, I knew I would find something else, but I worked for companies I believed in, and just caring enough to make that part of how I looked for work made the work feel less like work and more like just being part of the world. That's why this movie always stood out for me decades later, plus Vinny reminds me a lot of my dad haha same accent, same sense of humor

Vinny learned a lot as he went along, and even the judge had to admit it.

Although the judge's decision to overrule Gambini's objection is bullshit, it does represent how even the best judges can make mistake, and can be prone to bias.

I think the judge overruled him because he was mad at him for not being honest about his experience litigating.

I feel like Vinny was just given a golden ticket to appeal the whole trial if he didn’t find them innocent just on the judge’s bias against him alone.

Judge: Mr. Gambini. That is a lucid, intelligent, and well thought out objection.
Vinny: Thank you Your Honor!
Judge: Sustained. Court will take a 30 minute recess. Mr. Gambini, you can stay here in the courtroom. Mr. Trotter, report to my chamber. 30 minutes recess in effect.

*Hits the gavel*

Trotter: There goes my prosecution.
