Really thoroughly shows how intelligent she is when she can give the expert-level technical answer and in the same breath give an explanation the average person can understand. The jury won't know what limited slip differential means, but they sure know what getting stuck in the mud is like lol.

To be fair Fred Gwynne is also perfect in his role. His look of hang dog bewilderment is so endearing.

This scene along with court procedure shown is why this movie is still shown in law classes today. Vinny gives a masterclass in teasing out the information in a digestible manner so the jury and court at large can follow along even if they don’t have advanced auto knowledge.

In another vid, someone pointed out something I didn't realize. Vinny knew everything she did about cars but he needed her as a expert witness as he couldn't call himself to the stand. That why he was so happy through this because she realized what he figured out after looking at those pics and why he needed her on the stand. Brilliant.

One of my favorite movie scenes of ALL time. Glad she won an Oscar for a comedy role for this. By the end of the testimony I don't see how any man with a pulse didn't have a mad crush on the character she plays, no matter your background or education.
