How to make a GREAT movie mashup | Edit Tutorial

In this tutorial video I teach my perfect method and edit process for making a great movie mashup video from your favourite Hollywood films!

Some of my previous successful mashups include "Wes Anderson's The Shining" AKA "The Grand Overlook Hotel," "Jame Bond blowing up the Death Star" and "James Bond Daniel Craig Vs Pierce Brosnan Card Game". You can see them all in my Mashups playlist.

A movie mashup video is normally combining similar shots from different films to give the impression that they are all part of the same story. This is usually done to create comedy as you have combined elements that didn't belong together to create a new meaning.

Other mashup styles editing examples include creating a recut of a classic film to change its genre, e.g. from comedy to horror (Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is a popular one for this), horror to romantic comedy (The Shining, The Silence of the Lambs and many more). Mashups can be a great way to get hired as an editor, because you are demonstrating what you can do with someone else's material.

Hi! Love this. Question, where do you, or where does one, pull the movie clips from? For example so many cinema social media accounts use clips, but where do they get those from? Is there a subscription service online or is it primarily from YouTube that folks pull from? Same question for high quality screen grabs if you could recommend would be appreciated!

Believe me, it's a lot of hard. It's much like programming software. people shouldn't be worried about copyright issues. trust me. I have seen titanic parodies. I did this before. It's hard to put puzzles correctly.
1. don't worry about copyright stuff. it's out of context. Focus hard work.
2. focus on what is your story is.
3. how is your story end.
4. start monetizing your hard work.
5. Maybe a movie studio or publisher will be hired to make a movie if you like. if companies like it they'll buy it.

I want to find more movie mashups like yours. However, when I search 'movie mashup' in the YouTube search box, I get tons of movie clips mashed with music and that, of course, isn't what I want.
Got any suggestions of what I should put in the search box?

Here’s an idea:

The Wizard of Oz and Apocalypse Now. Similar- WOO is taken from the populist movement of the late 1800's, AN from "Heart of Darkness from. Close to that time. The lead was from the Mid America ( Dorothy - Kansas. Colonel Willard from Ohio). Both were needing to get out and there need to get out was summed up in a song ( Over the Rainbow and The End). They were greeted by high strung maniacs : Dennis Hopper Photojournalist and the dude that answered the door at the Wizards palace . One came out August 1939 and the other August, 1979. One group was almost attacked by a lion the other a tiger. Both were given orders to kill someone but done so with a euphemism ( "Take the witch's broomstick" and "Terminate his command with extreme prejudice") and just before the witch and Colonel Kurtz were attacked, they mentioned fire ( "How about a little fire, scarecrow?" and "They train young men to drop fire on people but they can't write f++k on the side of an airplane because it's obscene.").

After the villain was killed, both Willard and Dorothy’s subjects treated her as a hero.
