I e watched multiple videos showings, outlying the same to build a ramp, but you’re the first to give the calculation of proper length, thanks. I’m gonna need this tomorrow,

Exactly the video I needed thanks! Need to build a ramp into barn so I can put snowblower, generator and lawn tractor in there. Can't wait to build this now, thank you explaining it all out. The last time I built anything was in woodworking class in grade 8 😊

I feel the need to echo others sentiments about this build. This is EXACTLY the vid I needed to see for my project! Thank you so much for this example, this is what my new plan will be!

Edit: I am now a subscriber!

While Trex says 16" oc joist spacing is ok for residential decks go with 12" commercial oc spacing so it don't feel like a diving board when walking on it especially with heavier mowers. I wish now I did for my deck.

Hey! Fantastic ramp build, I'm following this to build my own for my 8x10 shed I just built.

Question: my ramp is a little steeper because I have limited distance from the shed due to my driveway, about 4 feet in length vs your 6 foot ramp. At 4:43 in your video, you can see how the boards come down from the shed to the band board laying on the pavers. Because my shed ramp steeper, the 2x4s will be coming down at a greater angle to the band board. So, will I need to cut the ends of the joists at an angle to meet the 2x4 band board in the ground? Further on at 4:50, you are screwing them flush to the band board, as where I'm asking if I need to cut them at an angle due to being steeper

Great video, where did you use the 2 angle brackets ? Also what was the width of the composite decking boards and the dimensions of the concrete pavers ?

I have watch several ramp buildings videos today. Yours is the first I saw using that tape. Do you recommend using it? And is the wood weather treated? Thanks for sharing.

Question: When measuring 6 inches long for every 1 inch in height. Is the height measured from the bottom of the building or the floor?

what size boards did you use for your runners?

How did you ensure you screwed into the thickest part of the planks since they are scalloped?

Super over-engineered, but nothing wrong with that. When you rip the 2x4's they will feel "mushy" but that's because the ripped section needs to be on compacted earth/gravel which supports it. But I agree, there is more integrity to the frame with the full box construction (the rip design usually relies on the deck boards to hold the frame square.) Joint tape... LOL... that must be necessary since the green-ies killed real pressure treating and oil based paints. Now... just what type of petroleum based chemicals are in that tape? hmmm?
