I was also young and foolish back in 1974 when I first filed and was denied. It took me 49 years to come to terms with my issues and fight the VA. 100% P&T now!

Great testimony. I retired in 03 and I’m currently at 90% with a pending appeal for 4 issues and I still have several conditions that I haven’t claimed yet to include PACT ACT presumptives.

We’ll see how my supplemental goes.

Never give up veterans. They made us a promise and we must hold them to the fire for ALL veterans. I joined at 18, was 39 when I retired, and am 58 today.

Best wishes🇺🇸

You and Combat Craig are GOD sent to all veterans trying to navigate through VA'S complicated processes for compensation and pension. Thank for all the knowledge, advice and experience.

Everything you pointed out is correct; I retired last June and used my terminal leave to research the VA claim process and all of the associated procedures they follow such as the CFR 38 and the DBQ's. I was fully prepared for my C&P exams and I also used a very competent DAV rep to file my claim. All of my days and hours of research worked well. I was awarded 100% P&T last month. Also, I listened to guys like you on Youtube to supplement my knowledge. Thx for what you and CC do every day for our veterans.

Hello fellow Vets, a little story about how I reached 90% so far, I say so far because I have 2 claims that are in the developmental stage for Secondary Claims. When I first applied for compensation, I received 10% for Tinnitus ( Ringing in Ears ) and didn’t even think of applying for other claims that were Service Connected until other Vets encouraged me to apply. Have I not listen to them, I would still be at 10% but thank goodness I listen. It has taken me from 2007-to currently to get 90%.
You have to continue to summit claims to receive compensation. Don’t give up, don’t get discouraged, that’s hard to do but the VA wants you to get discouraged and quit, DON’T!! I’m a Viet Nam Blue Water vet, so if you have disabilities that are Service Connected, file, file, file!!!!

I filed for aggravation of my pes planus both feet and was denied their reasoning was I went to sick call 3 weeks into basic training and they put some homemade leather wedges which increased the pain so after a week I had them take off so because I did not go back for the rest of my time they said denied and also said on my ETS exam I said no foot problems which is not true in fact the doctor noted normal feet so according to him my feet magically were no longer flat

Thank you for sharing your journey! It gives me hope for my claims, which have also been years in the process. To be patient, sometimes for years, with the bureaucracy can be difficult and painful. When you share your journey, "with the heart of a teacher", you make the path much smoother for the rest of us!
Thank you SO MUCH for your continuing teaching and "taking care of each other"!
You all have helped me to keep going and not give up.
Bless you and all the other veterans and those that are currently serving.

“The young in me.” Ain’t that the truth. My back issue is pretty similar to yours, only I never filed. Now I’m 53 and actually disabled from my back. Seriously thinking about filing now. I just know they’ll deny it, but If it’s in my medical record, I’m going for it.

You are literally telling my story, Marine Corps, break in service, and Army Guard. I'm not at 100%, and I wasnt an infantry MOS, but dayum back issues.

Your story sounds like the same story a lot of us veterans have. Even after I had two heart attacks I still did not go to the veterans for help. It wasn’t until no one could explain why I had the heart attacks and the CPAC became available that a nurse from the VA told me to apply for VA benefits.

I am 72 year old Vet. I just found out 5 hrs ago about filling for disability. I was given 10% for metatarsal and club toes which is10% also. I recently filed for neuropathy in the same foot which is caused by metatarsal. Which causes severe pain and in balance when you walk. I fell and severely cut my other foot severed nerves and muscles. I got a nexus from my civilian physician and a diagnosis from a Doctor who does electrodiagnostic study. It was performed and done on other leg. I recently had my c and p exam. I am waiting on my decision. Listen to your prodcast all the time. Thanks Great information.

Thanks for sharing your story. My first rating came in at 70%. Then 3 months later it bumped up to 90% Right now I have 3 claims in the mix that should get me in the hundo club. Thats the very short version of my journey 😂

The internet definitely made researching and filing claims much easier. My journey to 100% P&T was much easier. I made it to 100% from 2010 - 2016 with 5 approved claims filed during that period. Once my re-eval for PTSD was considered static in 2019, I was then made P&T.

I spent 7 years figuring out the lingo then filed finally using the write lingo. mine first rating was 30 then 50, then 60, then 70, then 80, then denied to increase stayed 80 and then 90 for 2 years and finally went in and got the right doc to give my back an mri and got 100%. Did all the research on videos like these and looked at each individual injury based on how the VA rates them and finally put together the packet that focus heavy on the bigger number disabilities.

I have a feeling that in the not to distant future whether proper protective gear was being worn at the time of injury may become a factor in disability ratings.

Thank you for sharing your story. Being able to talk about your disabilities is never easy. Don't beat yourself up too much for taking 15 years. At least you attempted to file after the injury. I was discouraged from filing right off the bat. I just now filed after 35 years, only because things are finally breaking down and everything going forward will be more expensive. I too have a service connection for eye injury, where I am losing 60% field of view in my right eye. Like you, I am thankful that I have one good eye. I also agree that information is more readily available with the internet. I am 3 months into my claim process. Listening to your video, I am preparing myself to appeal if need be. I did submit one DBQ for my eye with my initial claim. We will see how it goes. But I wanted again, to thank you for sharing your story. It does help to provide comfort to those who are going thru the same process.
