I loved my art teacher in my old school. She kept a basket of fidgets in her class and anyone who was having trouble paying attention could get one, as long as they weren't misusing it. We need more teachers like her

I love how your videos are in fast pace so I didn't get bored easily when watching your videos. Time to find quite fidget toys to use for incoming exam so I don't distracting my classmates with clicking pen noise

I am an ADHD Coach... 1st of all, you're the best. Praise to you for the topics, the tips, the empowerment and last but not least, you are really articulate.

Sometimes I WALK and talk with my clients to break down Extra thinking while we are working together. It's like driving and talking. We let down barriers because our subconscious are preoccupied with a "fidget".

Keep up the great work.

I always get yelled at for shaking my leg. But the thing is, if I sit/stand perfectly still, I talk fast. Like at hyperspeed.
I might start getting a fidget toy, so I can talk normally, and not disturb others with my shaking leg.

Oh my goodness this is the first time I've heard of someone else playing with their split ends to focus.

your videos always make me feel so much less alone, and so validated and reassured

Learn how to pen spin, its the best thing to do if you want to fidget, its a silent really tactile practice that you can do in practically any situation, your always holding a pencil or pen at school college or work most likely

Blu tack is something I fidget with. Mindless squishing, stretching and rolling in my hand. Cheap and discreet too.
A less discreet one but ultimately amazing: bubble wrap

Thank you for this video. My son has ADHD and we are(from now on it will be "we were") trying to make him stay still while listening to us (his psychologist call it whole body listening).
But what you said make so much sense! I am still trying to understand him and the way he thinks and act and your videos is helping us a lot!
Thank you!!

Not sure if anyone else has discovered this but I found the ultimate fidget activity: crochet. I took it up this week. It fulfills my need to fidget like nothing else ever has. I've also noticed it helping me cope with other things. At work this week I had to keep count of something multiple times. I'm terrible at keeping count. I had no problems with it.

thank you so much I have noticed over the years that I do some really strange stuff and my worst nightmare is here I've noticed that my son have the same habits I think we fall in this ADHD bracket. I can't watch TV without picking up my phone and playing a game during commercials I'm always shaking my feet or something thank you for this I'm going to carry my son by a doctor soon

My fidget toy of choice has always been manufacturer tags. The smooth woven fabric that usually has country of origin or material content printed on it. Not the silk ribbons, not rough woven design tags. The ones that come on pretty much everything from ikea, new hand towels, and even camping stuff like tents and sleeping bags. They are portable, free, last for as long as you can keep track of them, and help me pay attention or calm down. I rub them between my fingers, or the back of my hand or wrist, or my lips and chin and cheeks if I am alone. My parents, husband, and kids all help me keep track of my tags, and bring them to me when they come across them. My former therapist said that was an excellent coping mechanism, especially since I keep my habit on the down low. It's way less obnoxious than a pen click, or watching me bite my nails, which are usually what happens when I can't find my tags. Does anyone else use tags like this? I know the ribbon style taggies are popular now.

Until I watched this video, I always thought my fidgeting was a bad thing because a lot of authority figures taught me it was bad, even with my insistence that it was extremely helpful! Thanks for this video, its extremely helpful!

My desk hammock was a life saver at uni. Really comfy and fun to swing your legs on. Jumping beans and those magnetic stones that clatter together are fun too but super loud. Great for working at home though.

I would totally buy fidget toys if we weren't 1000% broke. I end up getting really focused if I'm typing or drawing though, so music is normally fine. If not, then tapping it out on a chair or something is.

Thank you for sharing the term "floating attention!" I never knew what to call it. I fidget a lot, but in class I also do Sudoku or other logic puzzles. It feels like it's grounding even more of my floating attention so that it can't wander.

My teachers would let me draw while they lecture in high school, they said it helps me focus, I just believed them because I wanted to draw more lmao but it did work, as long as I don’t hyper focus on drawing I was way more attentive to their lecture and peeking up once in a while to make sure I’m not missing important imagery 😅😁

got told to stop fidgeting all the time. bounce my leg or use my clicky pen to focus and listening to a sermon . I LOVE clicky pens (drives my poor hubby crazy) and the thing he has resigned himself to is rubbing my feet together to help me fall asleep. It would irritate him so much as he didn't need to fidget and it is the only way I can fall asleep, tried so many different things. As a kid I got yelled at to stop being "annoying" to my brother or sister "your doing it on purpose." There is so much I wish I had known about ADHD growing up My mom was a big support as a teen, but there is just so much we didn't know back then that could have helped (1, the internet had just started, and two the research wasn't that prevalent as it is now.) thank you so much for your channel its been a blessing and there have been a lot of ahha moments.
